Manchester United, top of the league at home against bottom of the league Watford. The type of game football is all about, after all it's 11 men against 11, and anyone can win. Or so the theory goes. The reality unfortunately is quite different.

I didn't actually find out the team news until after the game, in fact when my dad told me Lloyd Doyley had scored an own goal, my reaction was 'why's he playing again?'. It wasn't that I didn't want Doyley playing, it was just a shock, since he was dropped he seemed to have disappeared entirely (he's not even been on the subs bench!). My lack of knowledge was nothing to with not checking the Watford website or BBC or Sky Sports for team news…it had everything to do with the general isolation of living so far from Hertfordshire.

Anyway to summarise, going to Old Trafford without a key central defender or without his replacement (both injured) is always going to make life difficult, especially when United are in current form.

There's not a lot I can say about the game. All I can say is Sky Sports did not keep me regularly updated with the score, whilst I watched the Arsenal vs Spurs game. This was perfectly symbolised when with 5 minutes to go I thought it was still 1.0…I decided to text T-Mobile for a confirmation of this only to find out it was in fact 4.0! Any hopes I had of a late equaliser were well and truly dashed.

Watching the highlights on Match of the Day, it looked like we were out played from start to finish and Man United were well worthy of such a one sided result. However for a change Match of the Day gave us some credit – purely for the determination and passion we continue to show in the face of adversity. Results against Manchester United away do not determine whether we'll go down, it's the results against Sheffield United, Wigan, West Ham, Charlton that will. The players need to make sure they don't lose faith, keep concentration and never give up, or this season will be like the last Premiership experience – A False Dawn.

Keep the Faith (and good to have you all back!)

what the highlights didn't show was Rooney landing two respectable punches on Al almost infront of both ref and lino. Neither was even shown a yellow card.

what if both had gone off?
