Season Update

Fulham away first game of the Premier, drew 2-2 and just beat Palace 2-1 away. 2 away games 4 points so not bad. If I can keep it tight at home I should be fine to stay up.

I quit as Watford manager halfway through my second season as we were bang in mid table in the Championship. I now find myself at Ilkeston in the Blue Square North. How the mighty have fallen. Although I am enjoying it a bit more now.

 

a 3-0 loss to aston villa proved the final straw and i have been sacked the final league table well how it was when i was sacked is below i cant wait for the patch i blame faults in the game for my crapness mostly the closing down as i conceded so many goals with a defence that was more than capable

 

Purchased my copy yesterday, a handful of games in and it's going pretty well although I exited the league cup at the hands of Burnley.

In terms of signings, Simon Golbourne from Reading has proved useful as well as Bjorn Runstrom on loan from Fulham.

since being sacked i took on the fulham job 7 games to go till the end of the season they were sitting second in the championship

5 wins and 2 losses and in both losses i finished the game with ten men so was to be expected. i finish the season top of the table 4 points clear and looking forward to another go at the prem tho will be less naive this time and sign only a few players to strengthen rather than a complete overhaul as all that did was screw with the consistency of the squad and as i bought mostly young foreign players they never really had time to adapt to the game. in basis this time round less players bought and more of them from england.....except a goalie as ive already bought felipe for 13 mill lol

 

Into group stages of uefa cup after coming throught intertoto cup and eufa cup qualifing rounds! 5th in lge with 2 games in hand!

 

The wheels have completely fallen off for me. Was at one point 10 pts clear at the top, now I'm 5th place with a game left, just securing the playoffs.

If I don't go up I'll be furious, a good season destroyed by a few injuries and a few individual ****-ups.

After leaving Watford for Ilkeston Town halfway through my second season I guided the Robins (newly promoted to the Blue Square North) into the playoffs that season. No mean feat even if I do say so myself. Alas I lost in the playoff semi and the fans were unhappy with me! In fact they had a go at me and I had a go back and the board told me to clear my desk otherwise I'd get the sack!

Anyway I thought sod it I'm not going to resign and in the end they didn't sack me after all. For the next season I claimed we would be challenging for the title thus increasing expectations. After a shaky start we're now 5 points clear after 15 or so games and we are scoring at least 3 goals a game! Both my strikers have now scored over 20 goals each, bloody fantastic it is! The boards 3 year plan is to stay in the BS North so if I take us up hopefully they won't consider sacking me during the summer. Ungrateful northerners.

atleast i didnt throw a hissy because i got sacked after a few good seasons because you were 14th and tried to claim that you werent struggling and doing badly, like a certain someone then moaned to me and stated how ridiculous a sacking it was and how it was scum. dry your eyes!

This game in question was on FM07 and after 7 loyal seasons in charge (turned down various job offers) i'd taken WFC to heights they could never have dreamed of. Survived on the last day of first season then mid-table the 2nd, then we kicked on and found ourselves in the uefa cup followed by a wonderful 3rd place finish and we were a champions league club in the 4th season. 2 more seasons of good league finishes and uefa cup campaings saw a uefa cup semi-final appearance thrown in for good measure.

Sure i didn't win stacks of trophies but to sack me for sitting mid-table in the 7th season with about 10 games left, europe well within reach and relegation was never going to happen.

The squad was brimming with young talent and just because of one slightly below par season the players began to lose confidence and the board choped me

I've just got it. Took control of my local St Albans. Finished second, won the playoffs. However in signing good players on loan and a hull reserve i've managed to take the finances from a steady 10k or so to a mighty -100k. Go me!

 

Yes i know it was a joke, i think the way i said "likes of you" meant the post sounded a touch aggressive, apologies.

Unfair indeed.

 

Im top of the prem now and am into knockout stages of uefa cup coming top of my group! Also in semi of lge cup V Pompey who are the only team to have beaten me so far this season! Time for revenge!!!

 

well ive been sacked by fulham as well now it seems this game could well be my demise

when i was sacked we were in 19th with 11 points from 18 games

well the job hunt begins again i need the full patch now maybe then i might get better as i was great at 07

Won the playoffs and doing nicely in the Premiership atm. 11th place after a handful of games, including a 3-0 demolition of Man Utd at home - my bold tactics worked.

I recommend Matias Vuoso if you ever have the funds, top quality striker. Beat Chelsea, PSV, Schalke, Rangers, Man City and various other teams to him.

Top of prem and 2 games in hand on 2nd placed team. In lge cup final and 6th round of FA cup and put Porto out of Uefa cup and am into 2nd knockout round!

 

for some reason spurs want me as their manager despite my failings but im tempted to take a drop down to the less pressured division two where i have been offered the brighton job

i've played a couple of games as watford and both times i annhilated the championship with some clever loan signings and free transfers and signing some obscure players that have developed well.

i thought i'd go for a bit of a harder challenge and i started a game as Leeds manager to see if i could get them into the premier league.
it took a bit longer than i expected as i had to spend 3 seasons in league 1 as i lost in the playoffs in the 1st and second season but third season i ran away with it.
i signed Branimir Kostadinov for 70k in the first season and had him paired with Danny haynes they did well for me
By my third season in league 1 my finances had improved greatly so i tried my luck and mauro Zarate signed for me and had a good looking back line and midfield.

i'm in my 5th season i was sitting at the top of the premier league until January and then i think the AI got wise to my tactics as i went through a slump with 8 consecutive losses. changed my tactics and ended up 7th.

Finally got round to playing this, done a few smart signings, including a youngster from Arsenal called Barazite. Played my first game, won 8-0 away to Leicester, goals from, Muff, Demerit Kingx4 and Barazitex2. Playing a 4-3-3 kchelski esc formation. Enjoying it so far, roll on to the prem

Got a bit bored of my Watford game so i've gone back to my roots and taken over Marseille under the guise of 'Vincent La Hare' Since the French league was added to the game all those years ago i've always taken the mighty O.M. to untold glories, my greatest achievement coming on FM06 when my strikeforce of Torres and Zlatan led to 3 consecutive Champions League successes, the best being a 8-0 destruction of Liverpool in one final.

To the South of France we shall go. Allez!

I always go for really low down team in financial difficulty, because I like a challenge; either in the blue square premier or usually in North/south. It's hard, but often more rewarding.

Stuboy, could you do a screenshot of your league, as i've yet to choose a team.

 

I had a guise I used to use quite a bit of the time and occasionally I still wheel it out. I sometimes call myself Stuart McCoin, this harks back to Championship Manager 2 where I took Caley Thistle from Division 3 to Champions League glory (truely the glory days of the series). I put English as my second nationality as McCoin. Maybe I'll start up a new game as my Scottish alter ego sometime soon.

I will try when I get home. No Football Manager to play at work otherwise the sack would beckon. Actually the sack may beckon if I get caught on this Forum.

 

The one thing that's really p*ssing me off atm is the amount of disallowed goals I'm scoring, its absolutely ridiculous, quite a few people have noticed it and there seems to be nothing you can do to stop it. I just drew 2-2 with the Blunts and had FOUR goals disallowed... FOUR! In fact, I have at least 1 every other game, it's doing my head in. :rant:
