Hodgson hadnt even crossed my mind when thinking about the next manager, I didnt see him mentioned in the next head coach thread until it became a rumour either, out of the blue this one.

He has written an article claiming that Ranieri's heart was not really in the job (giving some specific examples) and suggested that Watford should have spoken with Fulham (where there were similar problems) before appointing him.

You could be right, although I read that Diego Martinez wouldn't mind coaching in a lower league, and he's been linked with Las Palmas recently. Can only assume he's insane.

 

Diego Martinez was in talks with Las Palmas who are in the Spanish second division. I don’t think being in the Championship rules him out or relegation would have seen him sacked - I think it’s more about the project.

I think it’s extremely ambitious for us to think we would be going from ultra-short-termism in Hodgson to a project under Martinez in the summer. Palace only managed it in the summer because they got a ton of money from an investor to back Vieira with.

If we wanted a project coach - now was the time.
