Incredible that we sign a player and then release them 6 months after they sign whilst he has barely played on the pitch. Again showing complete lack of squad planning or forward thinking, clearly the board again don't seem to think about the signings they make and just make them on impulse. Unless somehow his injury is career-threatening it just looks like another stupid bit of business that we made for no reason.

And my god, Manga’s remit is huge. You’d have to think he’s put ‘unpicking consecutive terrible incoming business conducted in transfer windows’ right at the top of his list.
Right to let him go because he appears to be injury prone, but I actually thought he was not to bad a player on the few occasions we actually got to see him play.
Christ, what a shambles we are. Amazing how so many people see correcting a hideous error as a positive that outweighs the initial hideous error. I shouldn’t be surprised as we get it every transfer window and any previous mistakes immediately become null and void with the club praised for taking action.

Of course. I completely agree. The list should have many more names on it. From my small list 4 of the players cost a combined fee of £15m. We will be lucky to recoup £2m to £3m and this is on the high side. I wouldn't be surprised to see the players l have named go out on free transfers. Then again,Bachmann and possibly Okoye, due to his age not talent, could fetch a fee. It's a jumble sale not a transfer sale.
Hb1's positive take on the original Manaj thread is a hoot. Where can I get a list of all our transfer activity over the past 4 seasons, because it seems like sabotage to me that we have signed so many absolute duds who've been actively ditched within less than a year.

When it comes to strikers we certainly seem to go out of our way to sign hilariously bad ones. Dennis aside, our hit rate since the early Pozzo days must be worse than just blindfolding the tea lady and getting her to put a pin in a list of them. Baffling and shambolic in equal measure, but we’ve really upped the anti this season by having to jettison two complete duds within 6 months.
It’s very odd, and somehow because we’ve hired Manga (who it’s far too early to judge) people now ignore just how bad the previous decisions were and how the club/Gino were making absolutely awful decisions for a long time. Some of us were calling it out for ages, but we were told it’s just because we’re a small club punching above our weight and we don’t have the budget to do anything else. Yet somehow the club have now miraculously seen the light with Manga and apparently you can actually make better signings than we have been for several windows now? (Which in fact still remains to be seen)
Maybe elsewhere but I'm not sure I've seen anyone on here making that argument. My earlier comment about Manga was simply based on the fact it's pretty radical to bin a player off completely 8 months into a 3 year deal and it wouldn't really match Gino's previous form to assume that's him doing it. Even then, sorting out it now doesn't change the fact both 2022 transfer windows were tragic in nearly every single way.
Yep, guilty as charged for getting excited by a new signing. I’m such a ****. To be fair, he looked decent at Barca, but was a tragedy with us. Here’s what I wrote about him, to save others of a similar persuasion the effort of searching. I agree. He's got a bit about him. Big, physical and loves the dark arts. We don't have any other player like that, so he's certainly worth his place in the squad. Not a starter for me, but a good bench player.
Yes, you’d apparently somehow seen him play for Barca B, because he never actually played for Barcelona did he. Whereas Reids actually worked at one of his first team clubs, watched 75% of his games and told us all he was absolutely terrible. But of course you knew best.
Yes, I did see him play for the B team. I thought he was decent. I stand by that but was wrong about him. Is there a problem with that?
Well it’s difficult to judge a player based on playing for a reserve team, whereas it’s probably easier to judge a player when you actually work with them day in day out. Your description of him above is way off the player we got, so I’m not sure you were even watching the right player, or maybe you were watching the Barca under 18 woman’s team instead?
I’ve actually just gone back and looked at those early comments. I’m actually ok with what I said about him. I made it clear I didn’t think he was a first team starter and more a rotational option. I was initially excited by the signing but that was pretty much the very first comment I made. The rest were more rational about him. It never fails to astound me how people can remember such things, let alone scroll back months to point out someone said something which ultimately was proved wrong. Life’s too short for all that nonsense, but if it rocks your boat, go for it. I was wrong to say Manaj was decent. He was sh1t and I’m a ****. But it’s just football. At least I didn’t spend £3m of my money signing him.
I didn’t go back and look at comments, I’ve never done that, but I do remember them. I’m not quite sure what life being too short has to do with remembering stuff, I mean, I can’t really help it, plus luckily the human brain doesn’t have to make a trade off between remembering things, and otherwise being happy and having a life, you can actually do both. If it bothers you that much though, I can always and cut down on the omega three oils so that I don’t remember quite as much anymore.
