[CLOSED] Quoted Posts

The little red arrow that is to the right of the quotee's user name. Used to be a time clicking/tapping it would take you to the original post. It's not been working for me for a while now, is it just me?

 

Never seen that before. Blame old eyes and a poor monitor.

Investigating now.

 

Nope doesn't appear to work for me either. I'll have a quick route around in the back for a solution but this may be a job for someone more technically gifted than me.

Seems to work now.
The post needs to go off the screen for it to function correctly.

Think it works on cookies/cache so might be worth a log out of the forums, dump those then try logging back in.

 

In the meantime I'll change your password so you're locked out forever.

It must be me, did all you suggested (although it never used to be that the post needed to go off the screen for it to work).

It works for me even if the post is on the screen, it just moves that particular post to the top.

For example. I'll see the thread like this as I begin to read it.


Then after clicking the arrow next to PhilippineOrn's name, it shows like this.

 

Maybe I misunderstood what Meister meant by the post going off the screen. I took it to mean magnified to such an extent part of the post wasn't visible.

It shouldn't make a difference if the original post and quoted post are visible together or not. At least it never did before.

What browser are you using PO. Firefox and IE are OK here. Might be a recent update to that that killed it?

That could very well be it. Lately I have just been using Chrome on my gf's phone...but I can't say with any certainty it coincided with the arrow not working. My tablet with Firefox the arrow worked just fine but that's in the shop having major triple heart bypass surgery right now.

Might be that then. I hate chrome. I also hate the fact that every time I have to sort my parents laptop out, it seems to have reinstalled itself again.

Never even noticed the arrow before, but I have just tried it on 3 or 4 different posts and it don't work for me either.

You're clicking it wrong, or not enough, or possibly not hard enough.

 

I only ever really use this site on mobile. Red arrows on posts mean nothing to me.

I can't see post numbers either do when done one says "look at post 222" I have no idea... Unless I count through them!
