Probably end of May or something.

Mind you who knows how strict the EFL are on such things ?

Or if meetings with certain fans groups like Women of Watford count so they will say that the club have held forums with fans.

Oh it would be a nominal fine that the club are probably prepared to swallow.

But any proposed meeting with fans can’t be seen to be ‘next season’. The reason they have said what they have about a forum is because they’ve been grassed up.

Never rule out the actions of some of the podcasts/twitter channels changing tact as they seem to get close to a ‘private audience’ with the club - but the fallout of the club meeting another handpicked bunch would be fairly suicidal for their channels. I know I often tee off on these types of outlets, but I’d be surprised if they got suckered in.

Personally , I would rather the questions focus on the future . I agree they should be answerable for some of the questionable looking transactions that have gone on , but would rather know ..

What the plan is for cutting our cloth accordingly now we are staying down, large amounts of debt and with parachute money already spent And what about putting together a promotion push ?

Also how are they intending to change the short term nature of their strategy , which is clearly not working now ? What do they believe is the reason that the players have consistently underperformed and what they intend to do about it .

I agree. They will fudge and swerve whatever is asked. But we might get more if their guards are down. might.

having the podcasters, starry eyed, ask the questions will not be hard hitting or ask the questions we want either though

    Dear owners,

Just the one question from me.

    Could you please leave?

    Thanks

Of course new owners might not guarantee better on pitch results as that is down to the managers and players but could bring a freshness and clean slate to the club as a whole .

Mentioned on other thread but please can we ask the below:

Given Scott Duxbury is paid 900k per annum, and we are in dire straits per the balance sheet and not likely to return to premier league soon, is it not time to be realistic that we cannot afford such a high quality COO and should make due with a 200k candidate to save 700k per annum?

Why didn't we sign Kim Min Jae when we had the opportunity?

Maybe he didn't want to come - did we make an offer or were there bigger clubs interested?

Of course it's frustrating to miss out on good players but they won't be certain to join just because we might express an interest.

They might want to join more stable clubs with a long term plan.

I mean even Porteous said he came to work with Bilic - 2 weeks later he has gone.

Mind you I guess anyone coming here ought to know how we deal with our managers!

We had no available slots at centre back due to Adrian Mariappa, Craig Cathcart and Christian Kabasele nailing the position down.

He joined a Chinese league team I think around the time we wanted him so guess we could have got it done if we wanted while established in premier league

"I continued to follow him, even when he went to Beijing we dealt with him but this time the price had risen."

Why are you two ****s sat in this room ?
Duxbury it’s Thursday night **** off and watch wet spam on your overpriced designer sofa, do the right thing and donate your wage to a local charity and **** off.
Gino phone daddy up and get him to book your one way flight back to Italy and leave the keys to this place to someone who cares.

I think the best question was a few pages back (can’t remember who suggested it, sorry)

Given you’ve burned through 18 managers since you’ve been here, are you terrible at picking managers or terrible at buying players?

  22. UEA_Hornet

    UEA_Hornet First Team Captain

Nope. There's not even a format, venue, host or anything else for the meeting yet. FRTE suggested recently there are some talks ongoing between various interested parties but the club aren't in the loop and it doesn't sound like they've asked to be included.

Maybe some more gently open questions to elicit unguarded replies like:-
What will be the footballing aim next year?
How will you approach achieving it?
What is the five year strategy for the business?
How do you see growing the value of your investment to date?
Which other English clubs do you admire for the way they run their club?
What do those clubs do well?
Where do you see the future best recruiting ground for young players who can make a significant contribution to the first team?
How will you approach the requirement for home grown players in the first 11 over next three years?
What has gone well this year and what are you most proud of over the last five years?

    1. How will you repay the group's 3rd party debt if we aren't promoted, given player sales and regular operating cashflow won't cover it ?
    2. Why do you believe we have failed to seriously challenge for promotion this season ?
    3. Which decision do you most regret making over the last 4 seasons ?
    4. How does decision making work between yourself, Duxbury, Manga, Giaretta, Wilder ? Who has responsibility for what ?
    5. Given such a small % of youth players go on to achieve a professional career, how do you plan to find, develop and retain the very best youth players, against the backdrop of the current rules and recent "star" desertions ?
    6. Is active consideration still being given to plans to move away from Vic Rd ?

Duxbury is a proper evasive weasel so hopefully the format allows for a follow up question after his first blustering misdirecting answer.

Realistically this is why a fan forum style scenario is utterly pointless - between single question rules, the format allowing them to just deadbat anything they don't like away as though it was never asked, and some of the utterly smoothbrained bilge that will seep out of plenty questioners' mouths (both of the frothing and simpering variety of questioner), it will be utterly fruitless and nothing more than an exercise in frustration.

If we actually wanted any kind of account to be held (in as much as it possibly can be through a voluntary process in which Gino, if in attendance, can say as much or as little as he wants and effectively withdraw at any time) the only real way would be a one-on-one journalistic interview, by an actual journalist. Jonathan Swan-esque. Given the fact that Andrew French, the best connected person to make that happen, has been chasing it for almost a year now and already been fully informed of Gino's point blank refusal on the basis that he 'sees no point in it', we already have all the information we need to form a judgement.

    In my opinion, of course.

Plus as a CEO on nearly £1m a year Duxbury will believe he’s doing a fantastic job by default. He’ll express shock at any major points of criticism, a bit like when someone said to him communication from the club was poor (from a club whose owner hasn’t spoken to the fans in over 10 years). It’s not at all in his interests to accept any real criticism because otherwise how can he possibly justify his salary? I wouldn’t be suprised to hear covid trotted out again as an excuse for a few things, and clubs like Forest referenced for how much they’ve spent.

I think you ask this type of question first to get them talking and save the more specific, challenging ones for later. No point going in all guns blazing right at the start otherwise they'll just clam up. But still need to put the tough questions to them and if they fail to answer them properly, tells you all you need to know.

It's another Duxbury masterstroke. Put out some puffery in a programme article and then leave the 'me me me' podders, YouTubers and niche fan groups to work it out amongst themselves. It'll almost certainly never happen and the club will be able to say they tried and sadly there was no demand for a meeting.

Will he even be there ?

Might be a bit awkward knowing Mr Pozzo has basically out ranked him and gone against his view already on a major decision.

How can they trust each other ..
