Agreed Ince is currently 4th best out of the wingers options. I'm happy to see Bayo in for his pressing game but hope Healey may get a bit more game time today.
There's a quote from Val on X basically saying the medical team reckon a few players have reached their fatigue limit, so he's decided now's the time to rotate.
Val....”So let’s take a sensible decision now before it becomes a problem. Some of the other players deserve to play as well, so this is a good time for them to show they can make a difference.” * except Healey. Naturally
Looks like Hamer at RB, Bayo in goal and TDB leading the line. Bold from Ismail, but who am I to question him.
It'll prob be unfamiliar tactically, but he should have the pace and tackling ability to do a job. And sometimes our RBs play similar to CMs. Also, our best RB last season was a right-footed CM.
Nice, unexpected birthday present for me for Wednesday! Thank you chaps! Who'd have thought at 1 down? COYH!
Despite the scoreline, MotM has to go to Ben Hamer. Preston in the first half were the better side with opening us up but Hamer was indomitable and made a number of saves I didn't think he had in him that enabled the comeback to happen. As @ForzaWatford noted his cross claiming was excellent. Bachmann has a long wait now to get back in the side. MotM: Hamer Kayembé Bayo Koné
That was fun. Easily Bayo’s best performance that. Dare I say he looked like a 5mil striker today…? Kaymebe and Kone looking like seriously good players now. Also huge shout to Hamer who made about 5 very good saves, including a crucial one at 2-1. It’s also nice to have a keeper who comes out for crosses.
Forgetting the fact that if Lewis had shot at any point I would have won £950 from an £8 bet, I’m well pleased with that performance! we are building some momentum at the best possible time
We're great. Goals from lots of different players. First team in the Championship to score 5 away (despite us supposedly being terrible away). Our bench is good and we can swap platers around without losing cohesion. Coming from behind consistently to get results. Real team spirit, great to see the celebrations and connection with the coaching staff. Lots to be positive about in the transitional season.
Wow, didn’t see that coming! Didn’t have a chance to watch today but sounds like Bayo and Kayembe were excellent Need a right back next month though, clearly the TDB experiment wasn’t a great success
Get in there lads. We are starting to look like a proper unit. No one is going to see us as an easy game. We had a dreadful start to the season and are still only five points of the playoffs. If we keep going like this a playoff place is not out of reach.
I like this team. The balance is good. I would love Bayo to find a consistent scoring touch because he's pretty good at everything else. Could have lost 3-1 or drawn 3-3. Deserved to score 5 though.
Also, just looking at our fixtures it’s suddenly looking very positive. You’d say our next 9 games are all winnable, not getting carried away as I think we are probably around the 7/8th best team in the league but a good chance to go on a run…
Wow, wow, wtf......... I didn't see that one coming. Thought it would be the usually meek surrender on the road. Hands up.......I could be wrong about the relegation scrap. Two defeats in 12 games now, but I thought many of those unbeaten games in that run was a little lucky. But....this was emphatic. Going a goal down, but then coming back not only to win, but to destroy a really tough opponent on their own patch is stunning. Looking at the stats, it did seem a little more even than the score line suggests, but that's the third very big win of the season, and the second time we've scored 5. Teams in relegation scraps are not usually capable of doing things like that. Make no bones about it, that was truly stunning against a good opponent. 9th now........11 points from relegation and 4 points from the playoffs. Happy to say it looks like I'm wrong about bottom 6. Could be 17th instead
Wow! I was looking to see what reaction the lads would have to the midweek disappointment. Going 1-0 down made me worried that it wouldn't be the reaction I was hoping for. How wrong I was! I'm really starting to love this team and manager. They are showing pride and character. Something we haven't had a lot of for what seems like a very long time!
Ben Hamer with some brilliant saves. That score line could of been a lot different when we were 1-0 down but we equalised somewhat with our first real chance, then Preston fell to pieces. Hamer continued to make some decent saves second half but we tore them to bits this afternoon. Some of Bayo's best finishing I have seen. A rocket from Kayembe, a mazy run and finish from Martins and Kone wrapped the game up not long before the end. Even Hamer made a good save right at the death. I was worried that the loss at home to Ipswich would of had an effect on the side, especially with the rather odd changes to starting eleven. But VI made the right call to rest some of the players. Nobody really had a bad game today, even though Rajovic missed another absolute sitter with the entire goal to shoot at. Bayo could of had a hat-trick, having a great shot blocked on the line with the score 0-1. Whatever was said at the break worked a treat because Preston could not handle our attacking threat. Full credit to the side, a brilliant way to bounce back from a midweek loss. Two losses in twelve - incredible job VI is doing. Blackburn got hammered 4-0 today by Southampton but I have no doubt they will be right up for the game against us. Should be a decent game with a large crowd considering both clubs lowering prices.
