Giant killers, beating Didcot Town 1-0 and keeping the Wembley dream alive into September. https://www.oxheyjets.com/portfolio-item/oxhey-jets-1-didcot-town-0/
Serves those giants Didcot right, what with their pampered stars and space-age stadium all backed by ill-gotten petro-dollars.
fabulous result to get a draw against the mighty Kingstonian and a chance to progress in a replay. Six players had to replaced, so it was a stunning result in all the circumstances. Will be very tough. The dream could die tomorrow https://www.oxheyjets.com/
Last time I remember talking about Oxhey Jets was many years ago when a St Meryl player shot a Jets player with an air gun and it all kicked off.
Oxhey Jets are completely tinpot. The fact they have a player called Tom Inch feels like a middle finger to us, clearly jealous of our amazing success.
Yeah, and an ex player took over. Heard they scrambled together a squad 48hrs before the match. I went to the game, the Jets were lucky to bring the game to a replay. I thought a stonewall penalty would of been given against the Jets, and an image was circulating on twitter with a disallowed goal which looked over. On the other hand though when the penalty was given there was a bust up with three Kingstonian players and one of the Jets players, thought I saw a punch thrown, in my opinion Kingstonian were lucky to end the game with 11 men.
No shame in getting beat by a higher placed opposition , to lose 6-0 in the cup final , is an embarrassment.
Kingstonian 8 Oxhey Jets 1 FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round Replay 8th September 2021 Jets defended valiantly in the first half and almost kept it goalless to half-time, but a 43rd minute goal from Gus Sow broke the deadlock and gave Kingstonian a 1-0 lead at half-time. The goal itself was unfortunate, a Kingstonian cross was turned on to the post by Jets, Sow followed up but his shot was weak and Partington parried but it deflected off a Jets defender into the net. In the second half, though, Kingstonian showed their quality and Jets tired as the goals went in. Kingstonian remain unbeaten this season in league and cup with 5 wins and the draw against Jets last Saturday. Next up for them in the FA Cup is Horsham on the 18th September. We wish them well. Full Time: Kingstonian 8 Oxhey Jets 1 Although the result was a disappointment, the attitude and desire this group of players showed for Jets was outstanding. To resist such a good side for 3 halves of football with a makeshift line-up was a credit to everyone involved.
David Connolly was sourced from Oxhey Jets. I hope and think the club still scour the local youth teams for players.
