I decided to look just who we have available up front to sustain our Premiership status, and to be frank, what I found has given me VERY LITTLE CONFIDENCE about staying up. All the following are listed as STRIKERS , for WFC: - Marlon King: Out for season Darious Henderson: Not a single goal Ashley Young: Is he our only hope, and he's a winger ? Hammaur Bouazza: Maybe should be up front, instead of wide? Tommy Smith: Another winger, should be on left IMO Tamas Priskin: Maybe he should be given a go, after all what have we got to lose? Claude Seanla: Is the last of our strikers listed as a professional at the club, he was 18 in June and he came from Spurs after a successful trial period. Is he any good, does anyone know any more about him? Thats it, just 7 strikers, though I would question that some of them are strikers), in our professional ranks. We do have 3 others in the acadamy: - Theo Robinson: Still only 17, but might be worth a try, he did not look too bad, in the couple of 1st team matches I saw him in last season, as I said before, we have little to lose! Lewis Young: I'm guessing he's one of Ashleys brothers. He was 17 in September. Liam Henderson: - I don't think he's any relation to Darious? He's still 16 and won't be 17 until 28/12/06. Joel Grant: Although, he is not shown as a pro, or as being in our acadamey, I think he is still a WFC player? Though he is currently on loan at Aldershot, with 4 goals so far this season for them. Thats it boys and girls! It don't make good reading does it? Do any of you have any more info on any of those players? Or any other comments?
Thanks for cheering me up!!! We were light up front before King got injured now we need one of the young guns to come up through the ranks and push for first team football. We have been lucky that Ash has found his feet this season or we'd be even worse off. Hendo needs to start putting some away but he is only going to do that from crosses but he's only seems to be used a target man and then pushes wide. We need 2 strikers in January and they need to be premiership quality. Will they come though???
To be honest I think we should stop relying on the striekrs to score and think more about the midfielders. Mahon can put em away given the chance.. maybe go for a 4-4-1-1 with Mahon playing attacking midfielder until we can get a fresh striker in in January.. IF we can.
Jay could play up front as that is where he played first before centre half, Shittu would be a good target man up front.
Yes it was a funny statement I agree! But in my despondant state this week I keep feeling the need to drag up negatives - this is very unlike my usual self I must say. Even my housemates were suprised at my lethargic state on Tuesday night, when I decended into a beer fueled stupor. However we'll beat City! We have to, as the bloke who sits opposite me at work supports them! It's a matter of honour. ;D
Theo Robinson is out injured otherwise i'd have him on the bench! Bouazza and Smith on the wings with Henderson and Young upfront until january then sign a new striker to partner Young!
Yeah i'd go with that Bubble. Fact is the likes of Priskin, Grant, Seanla and Robinson aren't up to it. People talk of them making an impact and suprising people but lets face it. It won't happen, they'll get bullied out of the game and dissapear.
We have always had this problem of not having enough forwards. I recognise Henderson as our only recognised striker and he hasn't scored a single goal this season.
COULD BE WORSE STEVE BUTLER ROGER WILLIS : TREVOR SENIOR : DAVE BAMBER: mad: MICKY QUINN ( NO PORKY SMILEY AVAILABLE) KERRY DIXON
I know this is of no use now but... I think the lad you said is Ashley Young's younger brother, is, and he is supposed to be better than Ash, so one for the future... A bit of optimism for you all...
