I've just done an extensive (almost 4 min of my time) google stalk for other European football families/dynasties like the Pozzos. To take advantage of the freedom of movement of labour laws they would have to have a 'bit' based in an EU country - any suggestions? I'm certain that this summer a couple of 'historical' English clubs, down om their luck will try and emulate the Pozzo model. Here's a punt: historical club, captive fan-base coupled with financial and performance 'issues' - Newcastle United?
There's obviously been plenty of examples of 'affiliations', like Man Utd with Antwerp and Arsenal with some Belgian team. Not sure of any shared owners, though there must be some.
Affiliations? There are too many examples to count. In terms of our setup though, we are unique. This has never been done before in English football and we are one of a kind right now. When other clubs wise up, they will realise that they can either go on moaning about our 'flouting of the rules and us ruining the spirit of the game' or they can get off their arses and look to attract some sensible foreign investment from people like the Pozzos (though they won't find owners as good as ours )
When Everton had some Chinese investors who came on board and sponsored the club (Keijan?), they had a few players sent over, Li Tie and Li Weifeng iirc. That was back in the early 00s.
That was a second deal with a second unrelated Chinese company, this first one happened in 2001/2002! I suppose the Chang deal came about after Everton's increased exposure in China due to the Keijan arrangements.
We could have been part of The Maxwell Dynasty with Derby and Oxford. Wonder where we would be now if that ever panned out.:doom:
Sheffield Utd had a link with a team in China who added 'Blades' to their title. The link was cut when Utd were skint.
At the end of January there was rumour that Catania's owner Pulvirenti aimed at emulating Pozzo and wanted to buy Portsmouth. He's another "good" owner and has lead well up in table Catania, with lots of almost unknown but good argentinian players. No idea if rumour had any credibility anyway. Edit: just read the thread about Portsmouth. Don't think any sensible businessmen would want to mess with that mountain of debts so probably rumours absolutely unfounded. Edit: absolutely not a "family" as from OP, but Red Bull owns 4 football/soccer teams: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Bull_GmbH#Football
