!Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is set to step up his interest in Watford winger Ashley Young. O'Neill is expected to make a bid later this week for 21-year-old Young but faces competition from Everton and Tottenham. Hornets boss Adrian Boothroyd will want at least £7million before he considers selling 21-year-old Young." from AOL news
Higher, Higher - give us a twirl Anthea. 9 million would be a very good deal for all concerned - Ash is a hot prospect - not worth selling for much less and its a reasonable gamble for a team like villa with a wealthy ambitious chairman.
9million wont keep us up alone thoough, we will have to find players willlling to come to us first. it sounds a good idea to get 3 x £3million players - but its not as easy as that.
Of course 9 Million will not keep us up alone but Ashley Young alone will not keep us up either. I would hate to see Ashely go but for 9 million pounds we would be insane not to accept it. Look what Aidy done with the money from Heidar and imagine what he could do with 9 Million! If we stay up this year now it will be an unexpected bonus but 9 Million gives Aidy the chance to build a special squad capable of bouncing straight back and consolidating in the Prem.
although im sure aidy could spend it well. the money he got from heidar he bought players he had worked with before and he knew - a amnagers best signings are usually first. there's not a endless supply of kings out there.
This is true and it will always be a gamble, its a case of stick or twist and with Aidy at the Helm I wuld be happy to twist!!
Don't join the dont sell ash campaign! If we're offered 9mil got to take it. he may not be worth anything like that after another five months at the wrong end of the prem or god forbid if we go down. his form at the moment won't keep us up and the money will be spent wisely. players will join if they see others coming to us.
He'll never be worth more I totally agree, he aint worth that much now, and he certainly won't be worth any more after the transfer window closes. Grab the money Aidy, while he is still flavour of the month, PLEEEAAAAASE!!!!
I am not certain of anything, its all my gut feeling. I just believe as I have since day 1 (hence my bet with aflynn) that as a business if the money being spoken about is true then you have to accept it. If we are honest he is probably worth 3 or 4 million, if people start talking between 6 and 9 a gift horse can't be ignored. So my guess is he will go to spuds (his dad is a fan i believe) for cash plus at least 1 player, may be 2.
There was some mention of the Davenport/Routledge + cash deal on TSport today .... probably Brazil talking thru his Asre again !!!!
Very good ;D I hope it isn't something crap like £3,000,000 plus Wayne 'problem child' Routledge and Callum 'god dam awful' Davenport! They would both be a waste of space! We'd be better off taking cash upfront £7,000,000 rising to £9,000,000 after appearances/goals etc and buying replacements such as McAnuff for £2,500,000! Better player than Routledge and can play on right or left!
Depends on the player. Say Liverpool offers 7 mio and Fowler. I'd take that. Fowler wouldn't but I would.
