I got told off in the Union Rooms by some woman for not queuing at the bar... when i say queue, i mean standing at one end of the bar in a long line. Now, i thought the point of a long bar was that you all spread out along it. Is this a northern thing and did they do it in the rest of the bars?
maybe it was just there then. she was really stroppy about it too. i was very nice and appologetic but she wouldnt let it drop!
Not heard of this one before and I've a lot of experience at bars. It's generally bad form to order drinks if soemone else was there before you even if the bar person asks you. I generally say this person was here first. It really annoys me when someone jumps if waving cash about when I've been waiting patiently. Managed to stick my leg out once and trip them up with a full tray of drinks. That was very funny>
no, she was already being served. she kicked up a fuss and i said sorry and the barman asked who was next and i said the lady was and she said she was already being served. so i said sorry again and ordered my drinks! to be fair, if thats the way it is in that bar, the bar staff should have said so!
twas indeed. they are all rubbish when it comes to getting served, so maybe thats why the locals do it like that. I dont know! gave me something to talk about anyway!
I have to say I'm the king of ghosting in through the gaps to the front to get served. Once I get there I always let one of the people there before get their order in but then it's fair game as I see it.
It's all about the elbow use. One tip - in summer time when short sleeve shirts are worn grease up your elbows and you'll glide through to the front ;D
every time I went up to the bar in the union rooms i walked straight up and ordered, didn't see any cue, and this was after firefly said about the cue.
