    of the last 30 years,

    5live have compiled a list.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/68507536

Which would you go for and should anything else be there?

Probably go for the Ashes and Andy Murray winning Wimbledon as that hadn’t happened for a long time.

    Super Saturday was fantastic too.

Guess they all are memorable really!

Medinah, Murray and the 2005 Ashes stand above the others as they were achieved in the greatest of adversity against the best in the world at the time.

All the others have generally the favourites winning when they should have won (Rutherford maybe the absolute exception to this).

Man Utd buying the treble has no business being anywhere near the others. Raducanu not being on the list is a disgrace.

Typical! By "sport" they mean football, rugby, cricket, athletics, tennis and golf. The only minority sport that gets a mention is rowing, and then only because of an absolutely exceptional individual performance at the Olympics (the only time most people watch rowing).

What about cycling, for example? Memorable cycling moments:
Chris Boardman breaks Eddy Merckx's hour record - 6.9.96 Manchester Velodrome (I was there).
Bradley Wiggins is the first Brit to win the Tour de France - 22.7.12 (I was there).
Mark Cavendish equals Eddy Merckx's record for Tour de France stage wins - 9.7.21 Carcasonne (I wish I'd been there).

There’s a reason why Wiggins has been left off, I would think…

I would go for the Miracle at Medinah, 2005 Ashes (still the best series I've ever seen) and Super Saturday at London Olympics. I wouldn't put United in the top 100 and it shouldn't be on the list

Yes I meant the away game. On their home ground. Brilliant result that also demonstrated the shift in power as, since our relegation from the top league >10 years earlier, they had pretty much always been the better side.

Red and black striped shirt with white shorts. We always reminded me of a "evil Sunderland" in that kit. Don't ask why, I was a teenager and a bit mad. One of our greatest wins as a club. If I remember correctly, didn't GT ask us to "ease off" in the second half? So pleasing watching all the cavemen slink back into the shadows before the FT whistle.

They go on about knocking us out of the Carling Cup 1-2 at the Vic. but at least we didn't run on the pitch and pull corner flags out.

Totally agree. Every football fan in the country has seen that many times over, (possibly apart from Leicester fans).

And to balance, Leicester winning the Premier League is not up there when it is a mile above anything Man U have ever achieved.

Knockart has it on constant play back in his minds eye. Defined his career as a serial "diver/cheater". Cassetti wasn't the best defender we had but I've watched that 'challenge' on super slow-mode and the contact is minimal at best and he drops like a sack of rocks.

    Leicester winning the PL.

For an underdog to win a cup is something, but to have the consistency to win a league title is unbelievable. It's the most amazing thing to happen in the PL era.

Nope. You can't tie a cricket cup final.
They should have ensured the Man of the Match performance was by a New Zealander playing for NZ rather than playing for us.

I think now if that happened again there would be another super over ?

Thst would be better, but I still don’t see what’s inherently wrong with sharing a trophy.

Because it would feel like a defeat and anti climax for both sides. Agree that there should have been another super over until we have a winner.
Would you suggest that football world cups and domestic trophies should be shared if level after extra time ?

  29. Keighley

    Keighley First Team

I would suggest that they should be shared if, after extra time and every player taking a penalty, the scores are still level.

It’s only an anticlimax because modern society is so obsessed with winning. But if teams or players are genuinely equal with one another, why not recognise that fact?

I would say modern society is obsessed with other people losing. Almost all ‘reality’ TV seems to revel in this.
