Don't get the 3GS Admin, mine is hideously slow since the latest software update and a lot of new and future apps don't support it any more. Unfortunately it's now well behind the times in both features and tech specs.

That said, I would 100% recommend getting and iPhone 4 or 4S. I'll be replacing my 3GS with a 4S early next year.

Edit: Just seen above that you've already ordered it.

In no way is it too big. Depend on your size, it fits perfectly into my palm and because it is so thin and light, it is easier in my pocket than any other phone I have had. In fact, I often have a panic checking my pockets to see if I have lost my phone. Have a look at one in the shop is probably the best bet, but you will amazed how light and easy it is.

Definitely a step up on an iphone in my opinion.

Nobody know anything about HTC Sensation XE/XL then?

Only that a friend of mine is creaming at the fact you get some cool headphones with one of them.

But yeah, apparently its a real step up on anything out at the moment. I'd just check out cnet and engadget, these guys tend to give the best reviews imo.

Well here we are, 6 days after ordering, and almost 4 after the promised delivery date and guess what? No phone!

You know what that means don't you? That's right, calls to TMobile customer services in deepest Mumbai, and they couldn't give a flying **** about me or my missing phone.
I'll save you the finer points, but just today I was informed by one bloke that the post office had tried multiple times to deliver the phone. I was informed by the next bloke that it was still in some central area waiting to be sent to the appropriate distribution centre, and by a third bloke that the post office will call me back within the hour to arrange the delivery, (do you think they did)?

After doing a Bassini and literally throwing my toys out right of my pram I got put through to a Geordie Lass who was lovely and all that, but informed me that "no Sir, you can't exercise your right to cancellation until you actually receive the phone". Apparently I now have to wait until Friday for the post office to decide if it's lost or not.

Perhaps with steam coming from my ears was the wrong time to ask Orange customer services for a PAC code for my Wife's number to be transferred to her new provider? After refusing point blank to speak to me, the bloke in question at Orange proceeded to try and sell my Wife another contract rather than give her the code.

Does anyone here work at Customer Services for anyone? If you do, please please please never let me find that out.

Admin you might find that the lovely Geordie girl was probably still in Bangalore. They train staff in a fair few call centres to speak with Glaswegian and Geordie accents nowadays as they are deemed the most friendly!

I used to, but not anymore. It's a crap job so you need to cut them some slack as they've probably heard it all before. If you're nice to them and get them on side you can generally get more out of them. Put their back up and you'll get nowhere.

I'm suprised you'd had problems with T-mobile, they gernally pretty good, certainly the best provider I've had dealings with, but that was a good few years ago now.

Might be worth asking for a manager when you call up saturday, still with no phone.

Definitely a Geordie Lass. The Indian call centre staff all sound American now, but when they say certain words they give the game away.

I find that works great with the British call centres but the foreign ones really couldn't give a stuff, and the only way to get them to take you seriously was to be a complete canute to them.

So still nothing today. So taking Meisters advice I called TMobile customer services and was very calm and nice, but firm.

After the usual circles and getting nowhere I simply repeated the following line over and over. Every time they said something I said it again.
"I'm not interested in tracking the phone anymore, that's your problem, I'm a customer without my phone, what are you going to do about it?"

This went on for nearly 20 minutes until I got put through to someone who had a real job and the power to keep a customer happy. After another 15 minutes, mostly on hold, she agreed to reset my status so that I can go and upgrade in a shop with real human beings, hopefully tonight if I can be bothered.

Anyone want to buy a new IPhone 3GS, I might have a spare soon!

Too late Meister, fully IPhone 3'd up. I love old but proven technology at a cracking price, and this is exactly that!

Iphone 4s arriving on Monday. It's a work phone, so it was a straight choice between BB and Iphone. For my personal phone, gonna look at the latest Samsung Galaxy S2.

Supprised they offered an iphone. Most compannies shun it becasue of issues with exchange.

OK - you're not gonna like this Meister, but I've got the Iphone and I'm a convert. What a wonderful piece of kit. It looks beautiful, feels beautiful and does everything beautifully.

Negatives - Not been able to import my music yet. Can't seem to just drag and drop mp3s like on my Sony.
App Store is not as good as the Android market
Most apps seem to be paid for, whereas Android has good, free alternatives for nearly everything.

I'll still keep my Android going I think and may get a dual core Android phone replacement, but the Iphone really is wonderful. That voice recognition thing is damned good too.

What Moog said. I think I love love my IPhone. It works beautifully. I have betting apps, fitness apps, satnav apps, can browse this place with no problem, and it's just so intuitive and works.

Is the battery life any better on the I phones yet?

If you use it as a phone only the battery is just fine. If you use it with GPS apps then it kills the battery in a matter of hours, much like it did with my old HTC windows phone. The reason the IPhone battery is used so quickly is because people actually use it as anything other than a phone. If you keep the screen going on any phone then the battery will go down quickly.

I'm using Nokia for personal phone, and iPhone for work. I'd would probably choose iPhone for personal, but will never put iTunes anywhere near my PC.

I like the fact I can use Windows Media to drag and drop tunes into my Nokia, but am considering the Samsung Galaxy II as a future upgrade.. can any one advise on the ease of music upload on this? I use about 14 gig of music right now, and believe I can use a memory card on the Galaxy (my Nokia x6 is a straight 16g memory)

Are you on the iPhone 4S Moogy? I have to say the voice recognition (Siri?) is excellent. I didn't even think about it when buying the phone and then was quite sceptical about how it would work. The only slight downside is it looks like it needs a decent signal to work properly.

  23. wfcmoog

Yeah, I've got the 4s. I sit there and type a text, then think "I could just dictate this!" and you can. And just treat the phone like a PA - "write an email," "search for pizza restaurants" etc. It's basically magic.

  24. wfcmoog

I'm pretty sure you can drag and drop on all Android phones. I can with my Sony X10. You can use Media Go or something for creating playlists or whatever, but it's not needed to just add music/pics/media in general.
