The influx of economic migrants from Poland over the last few years has generally been considered beneficial to Peterborough & Cambridgeshire as a whole. However a sinister gang of Polish football hooligans appear to be undermining all the good work & intergration by the majority of the poles who have settled in the area.

The gang first came to the attention of locals after the recent match against the MK Dons at London road last week. They attacked a gang of MK Dons fans after the match on New Road, in a vicious and sustained attack. At least two men were injured in the beating, with one Michael Crossland requiring stitches for a head wound at the District Hospital. The gang were heard by witnesses to be shouting "Polska hooligans" throughout the assault.

One prominent Pole that I spoke to from the local Polish community Mr Pavel Siwowski said that he was not aware of any incidents involving Polish men at football in Peterborough, but conceded that back home the hooligan problem was "very bad, much like England in the past".

Peterborough Police have so far declined to comment, saying that investigations are ongoing, but they would not confirm that the thugs were of Polish descent.
