They give the impression that the game is boring and the crowd has to entertain itself. Awful and should be banned, with the threat of ejection if you're caught participating.
Are Mexican waves even from Mexico? Seems like foreign invention given an exotic name. Probably means absolutely zilch to him, and we just look like a bunch of idiots. I've been looking at buying myself a Todo Es Culpa De Layun tshirt. Only 250 peso. Not sure if they ship though.
I'm having fajitas tomorrow. Recipe: Blitz some lime juice, olive oil, coriander seeds and a pinch of dark sugar in a blender. Marinade a chicken or some breasts. Place chicken in a roasting tin with some sliced red chillies and smashed garlic cloves and roast, slowly at 160. Pull meat off bone and serve in fajitas with salsa, cheese and jalapeños.
Find them very cringeworthy. Same with our mascot banging his drum trying to get the vicarage road end and GT stand to sing. All that happens is about 300 kids screaming and the away fans singing "what the ****ing hell was that"... How appropriate.
There was nothing wrong with the Mexican wave yesterday. It was an inspired way to welcome Layun, who had a very good home debut. Harry Hornet started it and it led to the whole stadium getting involved. This was the only time there was a bit of noise as "Yellow Army" was sung by everyone straight after and it sounded great. We have Elton John's lyrics etched on a stand, we have a yellow hornet mascot with a drum, we clap the opposition goal keeper when he goes to the Rookery........we do Mexican waves. We're that sort of club.
No, they're from the US, but are called Mexican waves cuz they were popularized in Mexico 86. Nah, they're actually pretty common at the stadiums here.
Football is entertainment. If 300 kids want to join in, why shouldn't they? Same goes for the Mexican waves - it's just a bit of fun that everyone can join in with.
A Mexican Wave is a hundred times less cringeworthy than chanting "You're f****** s***". Whether you like it or not for more than a generation we have been a "family club" and we have aimed to attract supporters of all ages and all sections of the community. It seemed to me that probably three-quarters of our fans joined in, so the comments on here seem a bit out of step. Unless of course you joined in yesterday, but have decided to be critical today (or you weren't even there?)
We win 5 nil and people have to find something to moan about, I don't like them if people want to do it then let them, not going to lose any sleep over it
Apologies HB1 it was Harrow Orn's post that I meant to respond to - I fully agree with your comments......
I think it's cringeworthy. I don't care if other people join in or not that's just my opinion and I'm not going to tell other fans how to enjoy themselves. As for the 300 kids screaming "Watford" after Harry does his drum thing, if it was done down the other end I would have no issue, but in front of the away fans who will start swearing at the family stand is just a bit inappropriate if you ask me. Would love it if the 1881 could go in the vicarage road end next to the away fans instead. Oh and I'm a season ticket holder who has gone to a few away games this season, so think I'm fully entitled to my opinion.
no one liked it yet 90% of the home fans did it Either this board is the other 10% or they are lieing to fit in and be cool
I'd back 300 WFC kids to take on 2000 Charlton sad sacks any day. C'mon Harry. C'mon u WFC kids . COYH
