This may have been mentioned already however a thought has just entered my head regarding our turnover of managers after reading a post about Ross Jenkins and GT .
My point is , and their are exceptions, that players we recruit just flatline because managers come and go and the manager of the day doesn't bother trying to improve a player long term as he knows he will not be around long term .
Take Bayo for example and I am one of his biggest critics . How many managers has he seen? . How many managers have put in some work for him ? There is something of a player in there it just needs someone given some time to develop him like GT did with Ross Jenkins .
Most people wrongly assume that a pro footballer knows how to play and merely needs an instruction.
This is not the case . Take Jack Grealish . It is undeniable that Pep has improved him particularly his defensive game/spotting danger .
    Just thinking out aloud !!

It goes hand in hand. With what we have seen over the past few years, if the manager cannot be bothered (Hodgdson, Wilder) then why should the players bother to perform? Of course I have no proof of this, but if you are not motivated as a team when you go out on a pitch to win a game of football then of course players will lose the desire to try. Our massive revolving door of managers since Gino took over is, well purely beyond imagination. Some of those had to go, some could of been given more time. If your a manager of Watford FC, you better get a CV out to other clubs when you lose two in a row.

Players' can also take inspiration from other players of course, and it's in their best interest to develop their craft and skill as an athlete. I do second what you say about Bayo though, he reminds me so much of Andre' Gray. If he was given sessions on shooting ball control into feet, he could be a very good player. He certainly has not given up trying, because when players do that (Sarr, Success, Gray) they just regress into their shells and are no longer part of taking a club forward.

Players should bother to perform because of self worth and pride. Lets be honest they get payed handsomely to do this.

Absolutely. But the problem is most need to be pushed to motivate them and not all managers are going to do this. Take Ivic as a prime example. We were fifth when he was sacked and that was mainly due to the players (Deeney in particular) not liking him. Results were coming but you still got the sense he was not the sort of guy the players wanted around. He was a grafter, and when happy smiley Xisco came in to replace him around Xmas time, of course all spirits were lifted. Point being, we could have Ronald McDonald as manager and the players should still want to play for the shirt. Pats on the back are all well and good, but players need to earn that first.

Ok I played all different types of levels during my footballing jaunt. Never once did I go out not giving a toss. This was even when I was nursing a vile hangover. Self pride

I'm not sure Success didn't try, he was simply not good enough at the time and he was not properly coached. Personally, I think he would be more effective in the Championship than Bayo particularly under the current management

I tried to make sure the CF I was marking took the full impact of my Sunday morning hangovers…

All the attributes but no football brain to go with them.

We missed a trick though, should of told Success the ball was filled with Baileys and not air. If he kicked it in the goal five times per match he could keep it.

    Manager Turnover recipe

    Ingredients

    2 tablespoons lemon juice
    4 cups water
1 manager - peeled, cored and sliced
    2 tablespoons butter
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1 tablespoon cornstarch
    1 tablespoon water
1 packet frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
    1 cup caster sugar
    1 tablespoon milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Directions
    1. Combine lemon and 4 cups water in a large bowl. Place the sliced manager in the water to keep him from losing flavour.
    2. Melt butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Drain water from manager, and place him into the hot frying pan. Cook and stir for about 2 minutes
    3. Add brown sugar, and cinnamon, and cook, stirring, for 2 more minutes.
    4. Stir together cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water. Pour into the frying pan and mix well. Cook for another minute, or until sauce has thickened. Remove from heat to cool slightly.
    5. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.
    6. Unfold puff pastry sheets, and repair any cracks by pressing them back together. Trim each sheet into a square.
    7. Then cut each larger square into 4 smaller squares. Spoon manager onto the centre of each square. Fold over from corner to corner into a triangle shape, and press edges together to seal.
    8. Place turnovers on a baking sheet, leaving about 2cm between them.
    9. Bake for 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until turnovers are puffed and lightly browned. Cool completely before glazing.
    10. To make the glaze: Mix caster sugar, milk, and vanilla together in a small bowl. Adjust the thickness by adding more sugar or milk if necessary.
    11. Drizzle glaze over the cooled turnovers.

I love the recipe. Sounds delicious. And, unlike apples, fresh managers are available all year round.
