Marseille have signed him according to Fab. This outlet is stating we’re getting 50% sell on fee. https://mobile.twitter.com/FR_GranadaCF/status/1549156620457975815 Based on the numbers being mentioned by multiple people on Twitter, we will get around £5mil.
Some Marseille fans seem to think the fee is so high to make the Gueye situation go away. Either way if we get around £5mil then fair play the Gino for putting in a big sell on %. However truth vs reality with our board, we will probably get £500k.
An interesting transfer which will show posters true colours. Either a terrible decision to let him go given his value today or a great bit of negotiation to get a 50% sell on commission on a player they’d nurtured and who didn’t want to stay.
Not how I interpret it from the report that's linked further up that Twitter thread. Sounds more like we hadn't received all of the instalments of the initial fee, so they're deducting that from the price Marseille are paying. There's no way we sold Luis Suarez for £10m and also had a 50% sell on of the total fee (not profit) of his next transfer.
A £5m sell-on?? If we have a 50% sell-on, then it's possible I suppose. I thought we undersold him at the time. I think we sold him for around £6m, so that would have to mean he's going for around £16m for us to get £5m as a sell-on.
If it is £5m then hats off - that transfer back in the summer we originally went down was excellent work by Pozzo. Money in the door when needed and a future big kicker down the line. Remains to be seen though- would if not need to be 50% of total fee for us to get £5m which is rather unusual?
How much did he cost? It looks like we are making well over £10m from a player that didn’t kick a ball for us. Similar to Lukebakio
For what it's worth, Football Manager also suggests we have a pure 50% sell on so there must be something in that.
I think Lukebakio did have 1 whole sub appearance at least... That's how we bring on our hot prospects.
I thought it was a nod to how his involvement with us is ancient history (maybe even prehistoric) and probably now completely extinct after this move.
I saw Lukebakio play for us at West Ham. (Perhaps I should get a T-shirt made up.) I was underwhelmed.
Hold on a second are you just dismissing his majestic 2nd half substitute appearance against Scunthorpe in August 2020, just like that? That must have caught the eye of Marseille surely.
A late contender for the most mis leading headline in 2024? https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/breaking-former-premier-league-striker-34386102
