Scored number 40 for the season last night and broke Pole Teodor Pewterek's 37-38 record of scoring in 16 straight games for Ruch Chorzow. If you have a spare £3.5M lying around you could buy a golden replica of Leo's left foot (soon to be made into a film starring Daniel Day-Lewis).

A good investment for Giampaolo Pozzo I think. Will only go up in value and all for a good cause. ;)

And as for the bumming of Ronaldo as opposed to Messi I present this:

I hope parents bring their kids up to play football like Leo as opposed to the egomaniac Ronaldo.

Where will Barca be when they all go back to Udinese? This needs to be stopped.

Little flea? Firstly, why "little?" Aren't fleass, by their very nature little. In fact, going on averages, he's actually an enormous flea.

And they are parasitic insects. Is he a blood******* parasite?

By the way, I don't get the image with Milan 'parking the bus' if anything, they didn't, and that's why they got spanked. They tried to play football

How do the media in Spain treat him on a personal level in his private life?

Do they go around trying to take photos of his every move and write stories about what he did on a day off like the media over here do...

Couldn't hack it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke with the media hounding his family.

AC Milan are a pretty poor side. They didn't try to play football.

All I saw was a side scared to come out. They sat 10 behind the ball and while it might have worked in the first leg with a couple of fortunate counters they were outclassed in the second leg.

Why ? Because Barcelona upped their game. AC Milan adopted the same tactics of trying to crowd the middle and hack down Messi or Iniesta every time they could.

Barca however upped their passing tempo, increased the width on the ball (the pitch is also naturally wide) and pressed much harder and faster than in the first leg. This meant AC could not readjust their formation as before. Having a natural striker in Villa also helped.

Nonetheless the first goal was exquisite. Not just in the build up but the final shot. Few players can execute that with such little backlift and yet hit it with such accuracy and power.

And as for all the moaners complaining about the second goal being offside well Abate was fortunate not to have been red carded and have conceded a penalty. Had AC equalized or been a bit more bold perhaps things might have turned out differently , but in that sort of mood even parking the bus would help few sides against Barcelona.

The team was on top form. Probably the best I've seen them play in 3 months. I'm glad AC were knocked out. One want's to see the best sides in the latter stages of the competition and theire are some intriguing ties in the quarterfinals.

Moogie his nickname as you probably know is the atomic flea. All Argentine players pick up a moniker. One that usually refers to a physical trait. If you're lanky you might get called El Flaco the skinny one etc etc.

Luke Andy Gray is a cheating thick ****. ;) Remember this ?

Former Aston Villa and Everton striker A. Gray questions whether Lionel Messi's could perform as well in the English Premier League.
    By Paul Macdonald
    Dec 21, 2010

Top English Premier League TV pundit and journalist AndyGray has sensationally remarked that Barcelona’s World Player of the Year Lionel Messi would struggle to cope with the rigours of the English Premier League, and believes he could not cut it away at Stoke City.

The Sky Sports host, who enjoyed spells with Aston Villa and Everton during his playing career, was discussing the 2010 Ballon d’Or nominees during Monday evening’s broadcast of Manchester City versus Everton.

When asked by co-presenter the hairy-handed halfwit whether he felt Messi and Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo would be capable of scoring so prolifically in England, Gray stated his belief that the Argentine would "struggle in a cold night at the Britiannia Stadium", referring to the home of top-flight side Stoke City. He added that "Barcelona would struggle in the EPL as they've never played the likes of Stoke."

The 55-year-old also claimed that La Liga, when compared to its English equivalent, did not have the same depth of quality, hinting that Ronaldo and Messi would labour to score as consistently, despite the former scoring 31 goals in 34 matches for Manchester United in the 2007-08 season.

Furthermore, on Ronaldo, Gray criticised the decision to omit the Portuguese from the final of the Ballon d’Or, but added that he "would not be the player that he is today had he not played in English football".

Stoke wouldn't be able to be that physical anyway with the way football appears to be non-contact at times and I am sure are are some strong defenders in Spain who can be quite physical.

Ramos of Madrid isn't exactly lightweight for example from what I see.

Exactly. However the g i m p Gray sees only what he want's to see which is precious little the cheating canute.

Pretty decent year for Argentina. Not just Messi and the having a Pope but when King Willem takes the Dutch throne his wife who is Argentine will be queen.

If Benteke was playing in Spain, with the terrible defending, fairy-like "tackling" and the inferior strength throughout the division, He'd get 80 goals per season. FACT

Not bad for a player carrying a hamstring injury to have such an effect on a game.

All the nonsense that Messi relies on Xavi and Iniesta to perform has been discredited a long time ago.

Although Iniesta is superb and my second current favourite player. Barcelona have perhaps become to an extent too reliant on Leo the same sort of affliction Argentina were suffering when Maradona was relying on Messi to pull a rabbit out of the bag. That has since changed with the arrival of Sabella.

Leo like many a great sportsman of the truly top drawer has that magical pyschological effect their presence alone brings. Lifting one's own teammates whilst simultaneoulsy putting the fear of god into the opposition.

Great to see Vilanova on the sidelines who'll presumably wrap Lionel in cotton wool until the CL semifinals. Should be a cracking set of semifinals no matter what the draw is. Another El Clasico or a game between the two biggest clubs in Germany. Either way the CL this season has confirmed the preeminence of La Liga and the Bundesliga.

If Villa had Iniesta and Xavi and the support they provide, Benteke would have 800 goals this season.

Funny how the commentators are blaming the injury. Anyone else and it'd be laziness or they're having a poor game but messi can't do a think wrong.

Well the difference was he wasn't really fit.

It was quite strange because although Bayern fully deserved their win on another day 2 of their goals would have been chalked off but still 2-0 would have been excellent.

Don't worry....they'll turn it around at Camp Nou, although last night was a real shocker.

Two goals should not have stood though, so it goes to show that it's not just Watford that get the bad refereeing decisions.....it's just all the clubs I support....

Because Barca have never had their fair share of lucky decisions go there way.

I'd bet quite large that they won't. Bayern need but a single goal, (which they'll get), and Barcelona then require 6. Accept the inevitable HB, it'll hurt less.
