He should transform that left-hand side.

I like Morris and he's steady, but limited. More than happy to have him as backup.

He's an ideal player to have as a backup. Decent enough so that if he plays regularly the team isn't significantly weaker, young enough so that he still has time to improve, and he's on a low wage. Definitely looking forward to seeing what Lewis has to offer though.

I had high hopes for this one but when he’s not a sick note he’s utter trash. Looks like he doesn’t want to be here.

Utter garbage. Awful on the corner. Can barely run cannot cross and looks like he has all the courage of a mouse. Garbage. Hope you read this Jamal. You're a waster.

I don't understand the criticism of Lewis . He is clearly a talent and a constant attacking threat for us .
Is it because he is not old school and doesn't kick wingers up in the air that people don't like?
I think the game has moved on from clogging full backs kicking anything that moves .

I think the problem with him is he’s a weak defender. He’s not as good going forward, imo, as Ferreira was albeit on the other flank.

Coming with the reputation he had, in ripping up the league with Norwich and coming on loan from Newcastle, I expected a far more accomplished player.

I think we have an option on him for £5m. There’s no way he’s worth that, so I think he won’t be part of things for us beyond this season.

Maybe, but ushering a winger who is playing on the right but left footed onto his favoured foot multiple times in a game (one of which resulted in a goal), isn't anything to do with being old school, it just basic defending skills that even I could work out at Sunday league levels.

I think he and Sema work very well together. He's not brilliant, of course he isn't, that's why he's with us and not still at Newcastle. For me he's been improving but signing him for £5m simply won't happen. He's not worth that much and we can't afford it

Hmmm. Ipswich went top for a reason. Good team with good players.
I'd wager that the Ipswich front 3 give most defences the runaround every week
Some people don't appreciate Trent Alexander-Arnold because he is a silky footballer and in the same
way some Watford fans don't appreciate Jamal Lewis for the same reasons

Some people don't appreciate Haaland because they think he's a bit of a goalscoring-only robot and in the same way Watford fans don't appreciate Rajovic for the same reasons.

That's how this absurd comparison thing works, right? :D

I don't appreciate Lewis because he can't defend and is too ready to pass back to Hoedt when he has a chance to cross.

He still doesn’t look like he wants to be here. I can’t work out if he’s got a really low footballing IQ or is just stuck in a low confidence rut in his career, but either way Andrews shows him up time and time again.

I'm no football psychiatrist, but to me that sounds more of a confidence thing. He has the ability as he showed when he was a Newcastle player. Not saying he needs a Xisco-style arm around the shoulder sort of thing, but perhaps some words of encouragement in training and giving him a bit of time to work on what he knows he can do.

Sometimes I feel left footed players get it easier. As they are a rare breed.

If he was like that at RB, he'd be slated more.

He's gash. Once a promising youngster at Norwich but hasn't fulfilled his potential and now it's got to the point where I'd rather Morris started. Like it or not Morris will be here next season so he needs the games over a Newcastle player.

At the end he looked totally knackered and out of the game effectively.

Think there was one time when the ball came over and he could have shot but did nothing .

That’s nothing to do with being knackered, he’s just crap. He almost cost us a second goal ten seconds into the second half.

He’s just not very good and he’s lazy with it. Hoedt was yelling at him countless times yesterday to do something other than receive the ball look up and still play it back to Hoedt.

He hides as well. I sit left side of the Rookery and have a decent view up his wing at least one half a game. When Hoedt gets the ball Lewis typically makes a brainless run into the same space as Asprilla or marks himself behind an opposition player. You'd almost think he doesn't want the hassle of getting the ball and having to actually do something.

For a player who's supposedly as rapid as Andrews I think we've seen him use his pace about 1% as much.

To play devil's advocate, he'd have had 2 assists at the weekend if Asprilla's finishing hadn't let him down.

That was a decent cross he put in for the big Asprilla fluff. Don't remember the other one though. However, I had great hope for Lewis, but he's been a massive let down. From where he's come from, tearing it up with Norwich, a big move to Newcastle, then to us, we should expect a far more accomplished player. I can't think of a single thing he's good at. Even our most limited players like Morris and Ngakia offer something. Morris at least cares and tries. Ngakia is not a bad defender. Lewis I just don't get it. Doesn't run through brick walls, average pace, poor defensively, doesn't have a trick in the forward areas, average crossing ability. I just don't know what his thing is.

When Sema & Lewis played together for a while there was absolutely no ‘chemistry’ between them which i find utterly bizarre. It was like their first game together every game and i think this is partly down to Lewis’s indecision making. Times when the overlap is on he wont bother and then make a gut busting run for nothing. The same can be said for all positions on the pitch, the players just dont seem to be on the same page as each other hence the under hit and misplaced passes.
The funny thing is the players train pre-game on crosses into the box with near post, far post and drag back options but they never implement this into the game. How hard is it to look at Bayo going front post and decide to either go far or drop back to get the cut back?

We struggle going forward. We often get into good positions, but we have a massive fear of passing and shooting. It's just so bizarre. Our players are scared of making mistakes instead of playing a first time pass or taking a shot on instantly. It's the speed of passing and shooting which brings rewards. We do neither. I don't understand it, what are they scared of? Giving the ball away?...but they do that all the time anyway. Our players all take far too many touches which constantly slows down our attacks. It's so frustrating to watch.

Morris gets a fair bit of stick on here… But I think we actually looks better in that area of the pitch when he plays instead of Lewis.

He’s not quick at all, but he’s a better defender!

I'm not sure they are scared. I can only presume with the tippy tippy play at the back and the turning back to keeper at every chance demonstrated on Saturday that they are playing that way under instructions from the manager

I think it's as simple as Lewis isn't very good. Clearly his skills have diminished since the time he got the move to Newcastle, but he's a passenger in our team.

Looking forward to us activating the buy option in the summer.

He seems just as frustrated in his post-match interviews, so I don't think Val is telling them to be ultra-cautious all the time. I thought, around the time we played Preston or mid-December, I thought he had made a breakthrough of shooting on sight policy and we were getting rewarded, but now they gone back into their shells look to have no confidence. You need to be brave and take measured risks. You cannot always pass across the back then wait for Hoet to play a diagonal. There were many times on Saturday where players were in a good positions running off the ball and all it needed was the pass to come in, but it never (or rarely) happens. It's recycled and the chance is gone. This is what I mean by being brave, put the ball in the channel and see what happens. When Andrews got through for his shot in the first half, it was because we played the ball quickly and intelligently. Millwall are a slow and ponderous side and are so easy to move out of position with quick passing, but we just didn't want to do it, in fear of giving the ball away cheaply. This has to stop or else it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. What you feat will happen, does happen.

Val should have ironed out the clunky forward play by now, so the fact we appear so static when attacking, is a black mark against him I'm afraid.
