To be "fair" - it's actually illegal in Senegal. If he's seen to support it (Gueye, Sarr or anyone) then there could be severe ramifications back home.
Hope Saudi Arabia get involved as a bidding war is beneficial for us. But the sooner he fecks off the better. He certainly won't be remembered with any fondness from me.
Ronan Keating got it right! 'You say it best.....when you say nothing at all'...... I don't listen to Ronan Keating BTW.
Well it's a shame Gueye wasn't as brave as Bamba Dieng, who was seemingly happy to sport the rainbow shirt at the weekend.
Oh! I forgot Success is there. The way Success has been playing for them, can't see Sarr getting in that starting line up except Delofeu or Success is injured. Staying with might eventually be the best move for Sarr but the wrong move for us. Sent from my AUM-L29 using Tapatalk
So you won't remember fondly that Liverpool game where he looked like a top player? Sent from my AUM-L29 using Tapatalk
It makes it worse in a way, because we saw what he could do when he put his mind to it. But most of the time he looked lazy and disinterested.
1 game of the 90 he played. Yes there were some other good games, but still too small a % of his games.
Ah yes. The one where our dolt fans crowed that he’d be sold “for at least £70m”. Did look good that game mind.
Yeah. It’s an odd comfort blanket for people who don’t want to acknowledge our owner genuinely is stupid.
Not really. It was a brief window of what he could have been but turned out to be a huge disappointment. His shameful attitude in this season is another reason. Sod off you tosser and hope Senegal crash out in the group stages.
Find the reaction so bizarre. He supported a teammate who has been dropped for something he strongly believes in. Boo-hoo.
Extreme example, but would you feel the same if he'd supported a teammate who had refused to wear...an anti-nazi armband?
They say the Nazi regime killed around 17 million people. An extreme example is putting it mildly. Here's where I stand, Sarr wasn't the one who refused to wear the shirt firstly, secondly, he's not said anything ANTI gay either. He's merely supporting a teammate standing by beliefs. On that point too, Idrissa Gueye hasn't verbally or physically abused anyone based on their sexual preference. He's merely said he's not comfortable wearing a shirt that pro actively shows support towards something that goes against his religious beliefs. *I haven't checked but did Sarr have rainbow laces on when that campaign came around?
That sounds very nice and reasonable, but in reality, you cannot merely separate those two acts like that - Gueye did not do it because he is desperately battling in favour of the concept of 'standing by beliefs' - he did it, by popular account, because he was battling not to show passive support for the LGBTQ etc community. By the same token, Sarr was not supporting or lauding Gueye for the incredible work he was doing in support of 'standing by beliefs'. Does that make Sarr a guaranteed homophobe? Not necessarily, though it inevitably leads down that avenue of questioning. What it certainly does make it is ill-advised, poorly thought-out, and yet another reason to question his mentality, attitude, and, frankly, brain, at a time when we hardly have to cast about for aeons to find them as it is.
Why must he AGREE and visibly show support with lifestyle choices though? It’s one thing to abuse or discriminate someone for something out their control but why must be feel forced to pro actively demonstrate support for it? I don’t see any reason to question Sarr’s brain. I question his attitude and commitment towards Watford FC. Even there, we are an absolute **** show of a football club right now and attitudes like his don’t help. But just last season he wasn’t at all a bad egg either, he played in The Championship for us when a move was possible and lord knows if he had been difficult and kicked up a fuss he would’ve got a move. In the end he stayed and as many Watford fans have said, was the player of the season which again is actually a bit of a reach for me given his actual output last season. Only reason I’d question his “brain” is for leaving European football and joining us in the first place.
It’s not difficult, there is no need to support his colleague because his colleagues stance is wrong.
And how many LGBT people do you think have been killed throughout history just for being who they are? Surely we're not giving Gueye the get-out clause of religious beliefs? How would he need to act if he followed every word of the Quaran to the letter? How would every Christian need to act? He needs to realise that an outdated text should not dictate his actions to the extent that he is unable to show even the smallest amount of passive support to one of the most marginalised communities in the world. Gueye has refused, for one match a year, to show that he stands against homophobic abuse. And Sarr supports that stance. That is categorically a sh1tty thing to do. Not to mention the fact that this incident has lead to the biggest spike in online homophobic sentiment that I think I've ever seen.
I wonder what the correlation is between those who believe players shouldn’t be forced to show support for this campaign and those who get extremely red in the face every time a player like James McClean refuses to wear a poppy on his shirt?
It's showing a support for equality rather than celebrating an LGBT lifestyle. He's not being asked to attend a Pride festival. If someone had refused to wear these, would you be saying the same thing?
Great player on his day but too far inbetween those performances, probably not helped by the shower of shyte he's had to play with and the chopping and changing of managers every few months. Certainly not worth the sum we spent on him but also not as bad as some make him out to be. Probably a decent top 10 PL player or perhaps a top 4/6 in a weaker top tier European League. Hopefully we can get a decent fee for him and I hope he does well wherever he ends up.
That second "meaning" shouldn't be allowed. Uninterested is a perfectly good (and shorter) word, and using disinterested as a synonym makes it ambiguous. Them Oxford people don't know wot they're on about.
Depends on their reasons. I can’t think of one justifiable reason to not want to stop racism though. The LGBTQ+ campaigns cover such a wide breadth, even down to the curriculum. Do I agree with conversion therapy for someone who’s not legally even allowed to drink or buy cigarettes? No I do not. Do I think teachers should be telling a four year old who’s favourite colour is pink that maybe he’s not a boy? No I do not. I don’t agree with any of that which has all become a wider part of the “movement”. I see James McClean every year get abuse but he has a stance with a rational reason doesn’t he? I’m not totally clued up on it but weren’t people from his area killed by members of the British Legion no? I don’t even agree with all of the hypocritical support for Ukraine rubbish this country has partaken in, when the UK itself has been involved in illegal wars, killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people and arming some of the other nasty people in the world.
Do you actually, genuinely think the rainbow shirts was anything to do with advocating for conversion therapy? Seriously? It's simply a show of support for a marginalised community and a condemnation of the abuse (and worse) they receive on a daily basis. If you, or Gueye are reading more into it than that, then it's on you.
