This forum needs a complete re-understanding of the general rules and how people need to respect each other going forward. Forum staff have a hard enough time as it is going through pages of threads and stopping fights and squabbles that should of been stopped when people left the playground. It's not just the ongoing problems in the Millwall thread, it's the overall theme direction of behaviour this forum is heading.

Naming no names, we have had a fair few posters refuse to post due to the in-fighting amongst posters. Again, no naming and shaming here, just a general but firm reminder about how posters need to act responsible and mature and treat each other with respect going forward. It's getting out of hand and despite continued cease and desist messages from the staff the bickering and fighting continues. Such distractions take away from the theme of the thread(s) and in all honesty I expect any visitors to the forum read through and won't want to become a member due to the content on display which is in no way inline to the discussion at hand.

If you disagree with another members post, then of course debate it, but please, do it in a mature way and try to angle the discussion in a way that it can be invoking for all viewers of the thread to be engaged in and might also wish to contribute, which at the end of the day, is what a forum is all about. If threads derail to the extent of some of the past ones where bickering out-weighs the purpose of the thread then it will be closed without warning, all other posts removed and warnings issued to any posters who continue to derail the threads.

We are all Watford fans' at the end of the day and of course when things are going wrong on the pitch we feel frustrated, but taking emotion out on each other is never going to help the fanbase.

If you feel a certain poster is going to far, please report them. We will take action in accordance to the rules and procedures set out by the forum Admin. If that action results in a suspension of their posting ability than that will be actioned. You can disagree, it's human nature to do so, but please do not continue in fighting for pages and pages of a thread. It's not nice to read and as said before, it prevents people who are not so affiliated with the forum the enjoyment of getting invested in a discussion.

We will state this again. Any continued breaking of the forum rules and actions will result in accounts being actioned accordingly.

All we ask is you treat each other with a bit of decency going forward.

Thank you for taking your time to read this.

    Regards

    WFC Forums Staff.

I literally posted a message suggesting how it would be better for people to step away from the forum - and how it gives a better perspective when you return every now and then. Thats a really good message!

Yet it has been deleted. Baffling.

Thanks for reminding me of one of the reasons I stepped away in the first place - it’s not always the posters that are in the wrong. The mods could do better from time to time (not a criticism of anyone directly and I appreciate it’s not an easy - or paid - job. But that doesn’t mean it’s always someone else’s fault.)

    Take care all.

Apologies Burnsy, it was deleted after LR response. It is a good post and I'll reinstate out now.

I'm sure you can appreciate the last thing the mods want to do is delete posts on a Sunday afternoon but here we are.

Thank you for the comments, we will take them on board.

Is this because I called someone a “nomark”? :(

In line with my refusal to attend any match while Pozzo is in charge I am also happy to martyr myself and never post on here again if that is the will of the population.

In 50 years time reborn hornets will compile my posts into gospels.

    Good man. Appreciated.

You all do such an ace job. I understand that.

Like I said, far better when people step back and take a breather rather that feeling the need to always jump on and counter every argument. I’ve returned more than usual over the last 2 weeks and posted more than I should have to be honest.

It’s not unusual for things to kick off after a Millwall game. Handbags really. Casualties minimal.

Still, more interesting than the actual game.

I'd like to start by thanking you for the work you do. Always appreciated, and never taken for granted. You have a thankless task; you do a great job.

I'd like to ask for a bit of clarification regarding standards of behaviour if I may.

In any given thread, if I'm accused of bullying by a poster (which will always be untrue, but obviously in my opinion), should I completely ignore such a post and just report it? If 'yes', does that person's post just stay on the thread until you decide how to rule on it?

In any given thread, if I'm accused many times of having multiple usernames by a poster (which will always be untrue, because it is a fact that I only have one username), should I completely ignore such a post and just report it? If 'yes', does that person's post just stay on the thread until you decide how to rule on it?

    Thank you

In regards to the bullying that is never tolerated in any form and should never be regardless of level of intent or "jokingly". I've seen it enough on other forums and even though it's a virtual world online it can still make any victim of it feel psychologically scarred. You can by all means request that they desist in their action(s), and if they continue then report the post and it will be removed upon review. If need be, said offender will be dealt with in accordance to the forum rules.

On your second question I have personally cleared that situation up by verifying your IP is unique (check the Millwall thread) and your account is validated. I would hope that is now the end of said matter.

    Regards

I don't think this will fix it. People won't be banned for airing opinions.

No point not naming names as I don't think I'm being rude here.

So HB1 produces a statement such as "were going down, it's clear now and everyone who isn't blinded by a long range stunner in the last game now agrees with me". He gets 3 or 4 people argue, to which he says it's his opinion blah blah blah. Carries on for 5 pages.

HB1 is fine and correct when he says he's allowed to air an opinion. But I never see him not having the last word. The same thing gets repeated and repeated and repeated.

Can you limit how often one person can post in one thread? Can you ban an individual from a thread for 24 hours?

I don't want to put anyone on ignore but it's tiresome going through pages of it. And there's always one person in the middle of it.

It’s clear my style irritates so many, and to be honest, I cannot change, so I’ve thought about it and I think it’s best for all concerned if I retire my account. It’s been fun (for me anyway) but I feel the time is right to give everyone a break from me, and me from you.

I’m not here to cause distress or stop people from wanting to read posts. It actually upsets me to think I’m having this effect on people, as this is the opposite to what I’m about. The haters won’t change and I can’t help but respond to them. They will find new targets in the future I’m sure, but I think enough’s enough.

It’s ok. On this platform it seems to be ok to have a go at someone, but that person is not allowed the right to reply. It’s the way this forum has developed, and the vast majority seem to like it this way.

If everyone is on my case, and very few are actually siding with my point, then I have to accept I’m never going to change attitudes and I have to be the one to bow out. I don’t want to bring this place down. The spite and sniping will always continue but I have a clear conscience that I’ve never once started a fight. I’ve never once gone for anyone. I’ve never been nasty, rude or spiteful. I’ve only ever defended myself against people that throw little cyber bombs my way.

But I hold no grudges. I only hope now everyone’s antagoniser is out of the picture, people start behaving in a more respectful manner. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.

But honestly, I’ll be good for me and everyone else that I stop posting on here.

It's the same posters every time. The ones that are so immature that they are unable to leave an argument as they MUST have the last word. We know who they are, you know who they are so less words and more action would seem to be the cure here?

It takes 2 to tango. If someone feels like they must have the last word, isn’t there someone else equally as immature on the other side driving them to that point doing the exact same thing?

Personally I think it would help if the moderation action was a bit clearer. No offence to the mods who I'm sure are short on time but the telling off for the whole class (which the opening post essentially is) rather than making an example of the individuals concerned thing is not ideal.

Without minimising the valid point about feeling like you need to read through loads of posts to figure out who said what to whom and when etc, it can't be that hard to work out who's always at the centre of it. Especially as this has been rumbling on for weeks now. If you've decided that person hasn't broken any rules and/or you're perfectly content with their posting style and manner etc, it might be best just to pin your colours to the mast and say that. Likewise if you've had words with them. Then everyone else can like it or lump it. If that means some people think 'this isn't the place for me' as a result then so be it. You can't please everyone.

And to those who are jacking in posting I'd say keep posting. The best way to counter balance the stuff you don't like is to post stuff you do like.

I read the match threads as interested in people's opinions of how we played (especially for away games which I rarely attend). The kind of bickering which the Millwall thread descended into is tedious in the extreme.

Please post more then. You'd be absolutely welcome and the more the merrier. I've never known this place to have any other ethos.

But if you don't post (and to be clear the 'you' here is lurkers in general rather than you and you alone!), then please remember those of us who are active posters on here aren't the cast in a show who you can write to Points of View about if we're not to your liking. If you don't participate yourself then really you have little right to complain or dictate what is and isn't good content.

The sad thing is that I doubt anyone "dislikes" the initial "opinion" posts by those who seem to like to have the last word. There's really no victory to be had in having the last word in these arguments, it's all just opinions which will always differ - it's not like the whole forum is watching with bated breath to award a winner, or that either of the posters will change their minds and agree with their "opponent". I personally love HB1's initial posts whether I agree with them or not and it would be a shame to lose them. The phrase "Let's just agree to disagree" should be used more often.
