A player who commits an offence the referee deems as worse than a yellow, but not as bad as a red, will get a green card. This means he will be sent off, but a substitute is allowed to replace him and the player will not serve a further match suspension.

Surely this gives a defender the option of putting in a reckless and/or dangerous challenge in the last few minutes with virtually no consequences to him or his team.
So instead of endless debates about what is a red or yellow card we will now have an extra card thrown into the mix!
