Keeper definitely got a hand to it

I thought he had a very mixed game. Positives were his excellent shot tipped onto the bar by their keeper and that he kept plugging away.

But he’s certainly not going to be a massive help if he can’t pass the ball accurately or sort out his decision-making. He was the most wasteful player in the first half with overhit through balls on 3 occasions at least with teammates well-positioned. And then in the second half while it was positive to see him making runs and putting himself out there as the outlet for the team with 10 men, it was disappointing he couldn’t capitalise on any of the space once he got the ball. If anything he seemed to constantly run back into trouble, leaving us exposed as players who’d sprinted to support him in attack were left stranded up the pitch.

He's normally underwhelmed as a starter, but that was due to playing on the wing where I think he's very ineffective. In a role similar to Koné in a midfield 3, after a poor opening 15 minutes along with a lot of the team, he found his feet and put in a good performance with his ball carrying and ability to tun able to hurt Stoke. Played a number of good balls, one of which had put Martins in a one on one situation that he managed to somehow slip on his arse and it rolled out for a goal kick shortly before their equaliser as well as a few other dangerous passes I think others should have done better with than them being over hit too much. I thought he played better than Koné who I think really needs a rest now as he's been below par for the last 2 or 3 games.

Re: Long shot, keeper saved it as did not take a deflection from outfield.

Absolutely agree with your summary UEA, his match last night (and a bit like his efforts against Bristol City as a sub) will sum up his time with us. There are flashes of a talented footballer in there but he remains unable to stick with the pace plus the rough and tumble of the Championship; fully understand the needs of the team (as you say); and doesn't appear to have the fitness level required. Surprising for an international footballer of 24. In his cameo against QPR on the first day he looked an exciting prospect but has flattered to deceive ever since in his fleeting appearances.

He increasingly reminds me of a lower level, younger but 'lite' version of Juraj Kucka; tremendous first appearance as he ripped into Villa, with glimpses of what he could offer us but always running out of steam. Not long into the season as the 70 min mark came around each game, Kucka simply couldn't keep going. Unfortunately for Chak this is likely to be a season-long loan that won't lead anywhere either. A bit of a shame.

AF has confirmed the rumour of Dave being made permanent is true. €2.5m fee.

I’m not adversed to the signing but he’s a player we already have and he’ll be with us for the entire season.

I think it’s a waste of valuable funds to do the deal at this moment in time.

I’ve not seen enough of him (yet) to think he’s worth £2 million in our current climate.

I guess if we didn't spend now we'd have to spend in 3 months time or replace him with another signing in the summer ?

Yes, but that comes out of next season's budget. If investors are coming in, then funds should be there to sign him then. Not sure why we're doing the deal now. That's very unlike Watford to do a deal early like this. There has to be a motivating factor behind it. What if he now picks up an injury, then signing permanently would look a bit foolish.

But......maybe, just maybe.....we're trying to bring in TWO loans. For me, that then makes sense. Signing Georgie permanently frees up two loan spaces.

Yes.....it is definitely straw clutching time.

Plus I think if they wanted to really free up loan spaces, then they'd just do the Martins/Ferreira deal as permanents.......but 11 more hours will answer this question.

Maybe we could find a bog standard squad filer in the summer for less than £2m and use those funds on full backs. But it’s Bayat so let’s use next summers budget now.

As discussed I guess they feel that Ngakia will be back soonish and Andrews is fine covering the RB position for now meaning buying a 3rd RB would be a waste of funds ?
Chak is more than a squad filler but if they felt they could buy a first team regular plus full backs for less than£2m in the summer then yes it would be better to spend the money then. Maybe they save further loan fee by buying him now ?

6 starts. 16 sub appearances. If that is your definition of “1st team regular” to defend your man then then fair enough.

Complete and utter waste of limited funds. He is here until the Summer so why bother now. Should of used the money on trying to get Moore, he would of put the ball and Bannan in the net last night, instead i had to witness Bayo get out muscled by him.

Looking more and more up to it physically, he no longer looks like he's running through treacle, and he's made us look a lot better in the two games he's come off the bench early. End product is lacking, but he has to start going at the weekend

Runs and runs well but with absolutely no idea what he’s going to do with the ball when he has to move it on, literally just good at eating up space.

He's as good as we can hope for at the moment. I believe he can be coached into a better player, unlike players such as Sema & the terds up front.

Must start every match for me.

End product, particularly from open play (as it was his corner which lead to the goal in fairness) is something he needs to improve, but his very presence gives them something to think about, he definitely improves us

He was decent last night . Probably his best performance . Final ball is a bit hit and miss , but should really have had another assist with the pull back for Asprilla, as he should have scored that one

Good player and works hard. But, when he gets the ball, he bursts through the midfield, then he either runs into a cul-de-sac losing the ball or plays the wrong pass, he hardly ever has a shot when it opens up for him though.

Once you set aside the fact he's got no end product, can't pass consistently with accuracy, hasn't yet once dominated an opposition team at this level and has only managed to make it through 90 minutes once all season, he's really got everything going for him. Another top signing for whatever club Pozzo flips him to in the next 18 months.

Seems to have Bayat's grubby mitts all over it this deal, but I think it's one of those occasions where he's actually provided us a decent enough player who we might, even with the drop in stature we'll experience very soon, break even or even make a profit on when we do sell him
