Chakvetadze fee is €500k. Our debts are still touching £200m. Just wait and see. Four year deal for Ngakia shows that the club has lost its way. Ngakia is made of glass and is frightened of receiving the ball at the current level. He and his agent must be laughing their heads off. He is not good enough for the Championship.
Watford just don't have the resources to buy a bit part player for €2.5m, the alleged transfer figure in the media. That is very clear. All the fans want to know what is happening at the club regarding the finances. Deduct the Pozzo input, the Marseille repayments agreement and the original Aussie Bank loan. We are probably in debt to the tune of £130m - £140m. Will Pozzo sell up? Are there really US investors waiting in the wings? Is administration possible if Pozzo stays? Enjoy the Leicester game..
Except we literally bid £2.5m on another player this window that was also unlikely to be first choice for the rest of the season...
And that player was? We are broke. No player was going to be signed that required a transfer fee. We will not be debt free as Duxbury announced unless the club is sold or we has massive outside investment. We are talking of £150m plus to clear debts and pay off Pozzo. Next summer, no parachute payments, no investment if Pozzo keeps 100% and players sold from a wafer thin squad. Kone and Andrews will be sold in the summer. Porteous could also go, but won't be missed. Bachmann out on a free transfer.
Hector Kyprianou - confirmed by the Peterborough chairman that we bid 2.5m, but they wanted a loan back and we didn't so the deal didn't happen. See, this is how you back up claims.
I think you’ll find there’s a journalist in Harare who writes for the Beijing Times who’s heard it was only £450k we bid.
Hey come on now, this is the guy that once referenced the Nigerian football forums (without providing a link, obvs) he browses as a source for an unsubstantiated claim. To say he doesn’t back up claims is erroneous!!
I have not seen that news anywhere, but if you say it's true, then it must true. Hold on! The Peterborough Chairman? Well, that changes things. He loves the sound of his own voice.
There's a whole thread on it, suggest you have a read. He does love the sound of his own voice, but he's still a better source than your repeated unsubstantiated claims.
As l said, let's wait and see. Watford are financially not in the position to bid or pay €2.5m for a bit part player (Chakvetadze). I accept that Watford have been hopeless in the transfer market of late. Bidding far more than any other club when that player could have been purchased for far less money in the beginning. The fee for Chakvetadze will never reach €2.5m. Our debt is another story.
Transfer news aside. What are the thoughts of the regular members on this site for next season? Pozzo stays? Pozzo sells? US Investment? New Owner? Squad size? Which players will be sold? Which players should be released? No Parachute payments? Level of existing debt? Ps: Released, Ngakia,Morris, Bachmann are my first three Sold: Andrews (Possible season loan back) Kone and Porteous.
Guessing you've not seen the news that he's getting a new 4 year contract. There's also no way we'd release Bachmann, if he were to leave he'd be sold for a fee.
If Pozzo goes it’s anyone’s guess. There is another possibility and that’s Pozzo stays with outside investment. Again that’s anyone’s guess. Too many variables to have a realistic prediction. But if Pozzo stays and we have no further investment, I think we’re in big trouble. The cloth-cutting will continue. The squad will be further reduced and only players who are prepared to play on low salaries will be signed on a free. We will have to sell to keep the lights on. So Louza goes for whatever we can get for him. £5m? Asprilla will go, again for whatever we can get. Seeing as there are clubs sniffing around already we probably could get a little more. Maybe around £10m. Think Kone could go to, as he’d probably push to be part of a more ambitious club. I can see a club like Leicester being interested in him. Probably get our money back with another £10m fee. I think Andrews will stay for one more season. No one else is worth anything but Bachmann almost certainly will go for a small fee. £2m? Ince will be released. Lewis will not be signed. I think we will promote academy players to make up the short fall of missing players. Duxbury will retain his £950k salary.
Roughly/best estimate that's 80k a month to be Gino's yes man/doormat. I bet most of us probably do just as much work or more in our own jobs and don't even get close to that figure. I know a high ranking position in any sport pays well, but even if he took a 50% reduction that extra 40k saving would soon add up each month to helping out. Won't happen though.
I have seen that news regarding Ngakia. I think it is utter madness. He is made of glass and is frightened to receive the ball at Championship level. He is no wing back and he is a poor right back. He fails to concentrate and loses his man. He should have been sold to Charlton Athletic when we had the chance.
I await to hear the media rumour mill. I am meeting him in Geneva tomorrow afternoon. Just a quick coffee at the airport. Any news and l will let you know
