Carpster pointed out on another thread that he'd seen rumours that we were interested in everyone's favourite nutmeg king. Article here:

    http://www.gazzamercato.it/palermo/palermo-su-vazquez-irrompe-laccoppiata-udinese-watford/

First time in the nine pages of this thread that there's actually been a report we might be interested. Could it actually happen?

Wasn't it stupid money to buy him though?

I can't believe it's nearly a year ago this first emerged.

The player has been quoted as saying
"I do not know if my next team will be Tottenham or Chelsea.”

That quote has been cut. "Tottenham or Chelsea or preferably Watford".

Just re watched his YouTube videos,at the top of the thread.

    Very very impressive. Really.

Does make me think " why is he still at a club like Palermo?"

If he could do that stuff on a regular basis he would go down a storm in the EPL

Mrs ZZ says that he is really good looking, maybe as good looking as I am.

It's a definite "no" from me.

From a Palermo website this morning

    http://www.forzapalermo.it/news/vazquez-watford-qualcosa-si-muove-l-affare-in-settimana.html

Vazquez-Watford. Something is happening. The deal for the week?

Valerio Tripi Repubblica: "An acceleration that could lead Franco Vazquez in England in a few days. To give it was the Watford the Pozzo family have identified precisely Vazquez the right player for no apparent reason. At first it was thought that Giampaolo Pozzo could conduct the operation for the ' Udinese , but the price of Mudo is considered out of scope for an Italian club midrange like the Friulian. Involvement of Watford also had the effect of rekindling the interest of the West Bromwich Albion who is ready to reinvest on the tag of Vazquez disposals of Saido Berahino at Stoke City. The English club, in fact, will cash for the English attacker sale £ 16 million that will be allocated precisely to the market. Some weak signal, then, comes from Tottenham and with less force than the other two English clubs interested is always on the trail of rosanero. Now it seems set back, however, the Milan . The feeling is that the sale of Vazquez ... is only a matter of days. The very difficult Mudo will start with Palermo on withdrawal which will start in Austria in less than two weeks. "

Why on earth would he want to go to West Brom? If we're in competition with them then I'd be confident.

From what I saw of Mazzari's Napoli, Vasquez seems like the perfect player to fill the attacking midfield role that Hamsik flourished in.

The fact that we are even attempting to get players like him and Pereyra is amazing. If we actually get them I will ****ing propose to Gino.

Do you think we are after both or has Pereyra deal cooled off? Anyways we have come such a distance in such a short period under Gino. It's beyond belief sometimes. Long may it last.

I did say we were interested last year, this has been an ongoing thing. Last year he did not want to come to potential relegation strugglers. I have not heard anything more from my initial source but will try sounding him out when I'm back home this weekend.

Why didn't he make the Italy squad?

YT highlights look good and all but Giaccherini, Zaza & Eder all made the squad ahead of they're hardly signings I'd be buzzing about

I'd be very happy with those 3. Maybe less so Giaccherini but Conte loves him so to be expected he'd get called up.

From what I've seen of the three you mention, Giaccherini and Eder have been excellent this tournament.

Just bumping this up. After the day we've had, why not sign and announce Vasquez as well.

"More than Watford West Brom. It is the London club to have approached more to the playmaker of Palermo . Zamparini would be willing to settle for 15-18 million . The feeling is that Vazquez will be in Friuli with the rest of the team for the rally on Sunday, waiting Foschi that closes the deal, bring the money in the coffers rosanero and does not start the assignment . " This what we read today's edition of "Il Giornale di Sicilia".

West Brom are also interested but we've made the first bid. They want 15-18million (probably Euros).

I'd describe that as fairly positive.
