3-2 Everton. We go 2-0 down inside 15 minutes but stop panicking around 44 minutes, at which point Ighalo pulls one back. Everton can't put in another and proceed to s*** themselves. Deeney equalises in the 80th minute. We get cocky and give away possession in the last few minutes. Everton score the winner. Boo.
It will be Behrami with a poor challenge which is outside the box but the ref gives it a pen. Lump on this like there's no tomorrow....
0-1 win. Iggy. I think Everton are going to struggle again this season. A lot of injuries and no reinforcements hardly so far. I reckon Martinez will be one of the first ones for the bullet and scouse disgust after Papa Igs 89th minute scrambled goal gives us an opening day win will be the first handful of dirt on his premier coffin.
Away to what I consider a mid table team at full strength who have injuries currently so not at full strength. An opportunity to get something from the game.
I hope our winning goal comes from a long ball out of defence. I am sure that's the only way we will be early doors on MoTD, to allow Gary and the crew say how we are destroying football.
Plonker managed to get himself sent off in the 93rd minute while not even on the pitch in Steau's last match of the season! Not sure what he did but he's sure not happy about something... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OBNJfWRApI This article suggests it was for either swearing at the lino or being overheard abusing an opposition player by the lino. It updates as it goes along. http://www.fanatik.ro/steaua-lovitura-pentru-arlauskis-suspendat-pentru-anglia-483667
We will be robbed by the referee in some way, any way. I do not know what way but mark my words something bad will happen due to the referees incompetence/ FA conspiracy against Watford. That or we will get a scrappy away point.
I'd like to know if Chelsea or United etc have signed a player from abroad who had a current ban with his previous club but the FA have turned a blind eye and not enforced it over here.
My head thinks exactly this - with the resultant outpouring of the usual indignation from a newly promoted side of how f...ing unfairly we are treated by referees in the PL. My heart says a 1-0 breakaway (Ighalo) goal on 60 and an all hands to the pump dogged defensive display. COYH
I actually think Rene Gilmartin is a better GK than many give him credit for. But on the other hand I would be quite happy if he never has to prove it!
According to the club website Arlauskis was sent off for shouting words to the effect of 'You efffin dreambreaker' at the referee who, according to Wiki supports Muff, and goes by the name Leeua Proberkis. True dat.
Given the way Gino goes about things I highly doubt we would have kept Gilmartin on just because he's a great character. The fact that Bond has gone as well with nobody else coming in suggests that the staff believe Rene is a perfectly capable backup keeper for us.
Yes so long as that backup is firmly third choice in nature. I would expect if we ever got into a situation where he was seriously likely to have to play permission to sign an emergency loan keeper would be applied for. After he pulled up injured in training too, naturally.
Bond was too good/valuable to be 3rd choice. Gilmartin effectively has 0 value and will practically never play.
Of course now is a bizarre set of circumstances with the suspension of Arlauskis. But I don't think it was worth keeping Bond just so we'd have a half decent substitute keeper for the first game of the season.
Good preview here... https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/everton-v-watford-8th-aug-at-15-00.78024/
It's a bit, how do I put this without someone questioning my humour, unfunny. I could run the cliche line myself in that all Scousers think they're funny but often aren't, but that in itself isn't particularly funny either. True maybe.
Yep, was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt that it was just me who didn't find it funny until that line helped me realise quite simply it isn't.
About the fact we've never won at Goodison. I hate stats like that before games when they seem to point in our favour, and I'm sure Everton's fans won't be taking it for granted that they're guaranteed the points on Saturday. The longer these runs go on for, the more chance there is of them ending. Our last visit there saw them just edge us with the help of the referee. I can see us edging it this time. I think we'll take them by surprise, I really do. I think we might also take some of our supporters by surprise, particularly those who have been analysing the pre-season games. Honestly, how long have some of you lot been following football? You can't read anything whatsoever into those games. You never know how you're going to do until the real games start. Deeney won't be up front on his own, even if the formation says 4-2-3-1. Vydra or Ighalo will always be one of the three behind him, and anyway, it's his job to hold the ball up and bring runners into play. He does that job at least as well as any English centre-forward you can name, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the England squad soon. Holebas and Nyom are much better crossers of the ball than we've previously had at fullback/wingback. There's enough goals in this team. Don't anybody worry about that. Personally I think it would have been worth keeping Bond because he's a very good prospect, and now we've got a team playing in the under 21 league, he'd have gotten the regular games he needs to keep his development moving upwards. I don't know much about Reading's other keepers, but he really needs to be playing more often than he has been.
