Same team other than Carroll/AOC swap: Hart Johnson Cole Terry Lescott Milner Young Gerrard Parker Carroll Welbeck Fun fact - if we get to the final, and Cole plays each of the five games, he'll win his 100th cap in the final. What a legend of English football.
The FA have just tweeted a picture of the 'band' inside the ground. Get ready for 90 mins of the Great Escape :dismay:
So people were slagging off Roy for picking Carroll - now he's given England the lead... The irony...
I know Ibra splits opinions, but Lawrenson has a right agenda against him ffs, and he's meant to be a commentator..
James Milner is f**king useless. Slow, poor touch, can't beat a man and wants too long on the ball. Get him off and put a positive winger on for f**k sake.
Fair play to Theo Walcott, I've always been a huge critic of his but he was fantastic when he came on today and completely changed the game. Walcott in for Milner next game, Rooney in for Carroll and Jones in for Johnson and we might be OK.
Young was ****e today, although I still don't think Walcott should start over him vs Ukraine. There's no better English impact player than Theo Walcott.
Yeah, Young was woeful today, but no Walcott shouldn't start over him, he should start over the awful, completely ineffective Milner. Oxlade-Chamberlain can do the impact sub job that Walcott did today.
i agree JH young was terrible today. worst performance i think i have ever seen from him. i actually thought glen johnson made some fantastic tackles today. walcott made a huge impact today.
Are you sh*tting me? He was so, so poor. The only couple of good tackles he made today were recovery tackles from his usual mistakes. His positioning is embarrassing. How he came to this tournament over Micah Richards I'll never know.
well have to agree to disagree, i thought by and large he did ok. i would have rather had richards too, but we are stuck with what we have got. there is no way roy will drop johnson for jones.
Better than the boring crap in the world cup, Young/Milner were terrible today. edit - I don't watch Milner much for City, but is he ever good?
F**king unbelievable. After that World Cup all I wanted to see from England was fight, passion and determination and we had that today. We may have played poor at times but that was a proper England performance with shades of Italia 90. Theo was phenomenal when he came on and Lescott and Terry are forming a brilliant partnership at the back. Them two and Carroll did not get beaten in the air once today. Johnson had a great game against the French and whilst he put some good crosses in today and made some superb tackles (albeit mostly from his own errors) he was in large a liability at the back today with both Swedish goals being his fault. And as if it needs to be any sweeter; I had a fiver on an England and France double. Roy Hodgson is a tactical genius. Also, nice to see Ibra go out after his uncalled for and generally c**tish behaviour towards Joe Hart (also superb) after the second Swedish goal. ****.
Completely agree with nath and JH. Glen Johnson is awful and the praise he got was recovering from his own mistakes. Against better teams they will target him, so you would have to put Jones at right back.
