This is not good. Most especially after Julian Assange got refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy in London and that was respected.

The man who ordered it seems to be very well named: Noboa.

Mr Noboa is 36 and was not elected, but took over from some other Nobody inna Rishi stylee. He is described as 'right wing'.

He is copying the recent El Salvador strategy for combatting the gangs and violence surrounding the drugs trade. Hard line jailing everyone, roadblocks, raids, pulling people off buses and searching them. But it has succeeded - sort of - in El Salvador and it is also having results in Ecuador. But obviously at big costs to human rights - the innocent get swept up along with the guilty and there is huge violence associated with the crackdown.

Despite the abuses, it's hard to see any other possible way they could stop the insane violence and murder through central and South America.

The irony is of course, that the gangs are made up of those who have spent time in the USA and copied their gangs. The weapons enter on the return leg from the drugs runs. And almost all the drugs are for consumption by the big fat hootin' n hollerin' Yankee doodling winkstains of the north.

Nonetheless, breaking in to embassies is a very bad thing indeed and could lead to the collapse of the embassy and diplomatic situation that has helped keep world peace for a very long time.
