I dont remember playing the quick one touch passing game all last season...! I was referring to the accurate long balls to a striker with a great first touch, exquisite control, that could recieve the ball at any angle, any height and at any pace and either distribute it properly or make a goal scoring opportunity out of nothing!!.... ...this direct football occassionaly mixed up with good attacking counter play!! We are missing a decent proven striker, that is all!! If you think we are doomed regardless, then lets just sell Young, send Foster back, flog Shittu to Celtic, off load Bangura and Marriappa to the highest bidders and wait another 7 years to get back to the Promised Land of the Prem!!...AND THEN SELL OUR NEXT CROP OF YOUNG PLAYERS BEFORE WE EVEN BENEFIT FROM THEIR ABILITY!! YES...we are a selling club... but not half way through our first season in top flight... What is the point of our youth policy if we sell them all before we even get TWO full seasons out of them!! No, if we sell Young now we're admitting (a) he's grossly over priced and (b) that one player doesn't make a team. Who said anything about selling anyone else? We have to build a team to get us back here within 2 seasons - selling anyone else won't do that. Especially as the money would be pretty low.
Spot on! He's drastically over priced, and he doesn't make the team! He's hardly done anything in past 2 months! He's had the odd great game here and there but hardly consistent! He's very over rated in my opinion! £9,000,000?? I don't think he's worth £5,000,000! I'll pack his bags for him and drive him away! To me if we sell Young for anything above £7,000,000 it proves that Aidy isn't going to be taken for a mug in the transfer market! Completely agree bubble. What you need to realise littlebigorn is that he's been average this season and failed to make the step up like some expected. He's been nowhere near our best player and for a club to get 7-9 million for somebody like that is a miracle. Bit their farking arms off at 7-9 million. Lets face facts, Young had one good season and before that we were questioning his ability at championship level.
agreed with most of what you have said...BUT He has not been playing in the position he is best in this season.. If we would have had two decent front strikers, Ash would have set up more, scored more! He is worth over 5 million easy!!
I don't think on his own he can keep us up. So either we get people in who can help him do that, or we admit that £7million or more is overpriced and we take the money and invest it into building a team (like Reading).
Completely agree! The reason Reading are doing well is because they've built their team up gradually with clever planning! Sometimes you need to take a step back before you can take two steps forward, and relegation would be that step back! Won't be a bad thing in the long run, we can prepare and plan for next 3 seasons! Oh and Littlebighorn i disagree! I personally think Ash plays better down the middle than down the wings because he can't cross a ball to save his life!
But what is his best postion ? He scored plenty of goals whilst playing up front last season and a player of his apparent ability playing in a different postion shouldn't be too much of an issue.

english players are overpriced! just look at carrick, 14 mill or something, i know he's a good player but he isn't worth that much and thats the same with Young! 9 mill???? infact 5 mill... take it!
he is not worth 9 million - i aggre, but you dont always accept what a player is worth. eg. if you had only one striker in your whole squad - who was just keeping you out the relegation zone by himself. he could be 35 and only worth £3 million - his goals are keeping you in the prem and that is worth £20 million+ if someone offered you £6 million you wouldn't take it. - and lets aso imagine that the was some reason you couldn't spend that money. he has had one good season - that is cos hes only played one full season and he may have many more. whether we were questioning his ability before means nothing - i anything it shows he is improving and can prove people wrong again! a wad of cash wont keep us up either. who of young's quality will join us? why invest in building a team when you have one in your youth academy already. and its not like that the only money we'll have to spend for the next few years to!
