Bachmann was crap today, but that goal was Hoedt's fault alone, obviously. 1. He rushed the pass, when he had a few yards of space 2. He played it blind 3. He played it like a shot, rather than a pass 4. He passed it in the goal, rather than wide 100% Hoedt's fault, hence why he apologised to Bachmann, and the fans.
I think Bachmann did an alright job today considering the clown called Porteous he had in front of him. That penalty save was top draw, and something out of Chamberlain's handbook of how to save a penalty. Hoedt made one rash choice that cost us a goal, but it didn't cost us the game overall. Bachmann is still playing a role he is very inexperienced at. He will get better and I would certainly have him over Hamer right now. He has his faults we all know that, but possibly only the first goal was his error despite the wall splitting in half as soon as the ball was kicked.
It was Hoedt fault, I was pointing that you shouldn't pass the ball back between the post. Why didn't Bachmann try to save it with hands, an indirect freekick from the position he was in would be difficult to score from.
I'm sure with just a split second to react, the natural reflex is not to dive with your hands at a pass back from your own defender.
Exactly this. Almost every own goal of this nature you see, the keeper tries to stop it with their feet. They will have played their whole career conditioned not to handle back passes, didn't have any time to override that with Hoedt randomly firing it backwards at that pace.
Hmm. A big clanger here . Just doesn’t control the ball . https://twitter.com/MalekWFC_/statu...700242961945039082¤tTweetUser=MalekWFC_
With Serghei Cleșcenco in charge its no surprise to see Moldova doing all they can to make Watford look stupid. Revenge is sweet.
Definitely up there in recent memory. Think Loach was worse as was 2nd Season Almunia, but that's already a low bar to clear.
Quite funny that you can almost see his thought process being acted out: 'should I head this again? Nope not in the right position. Handle it? Bad idea, red card! I'll trip him up? That'll also get me a red! Oh bugger...'
He's unbelievably sh1t. Scott Loach made good saves but I expected a mistake from him every game and more often than not it happened. That's exactly where I'm at with Bachmann, makes some good saves but is making mistakes almost every game now. The contract extension was unforgivable as was the decision to give him the armband. We can only hope that Ismael doesn't mind dropping his captain or that when Ismael is replaced the new head coach chooses someone else as his captain.
Leaning a new role and not sure you can blame him for any goals. He's a bog standard Championship player so he's at the right club
So who’s to blame then? As this forum and social media can keep lambasting the guy for signing a new contract that he was offered and the coaches who are forcing him to play a style that is supposedly alien to him. It’s time those people get the treatment that Bachmann receives.
Are you seriously saying you have not noticed anyone slagging off the ownership, managment, etc on this forum?
On the subject of Bachmann being picked, getting a new contract and being played outside of his ability, no I haven’t seen Giaretta or Ismael get the same level of abuse.
This guy is the perfect proof that goalkeepers are not proper footballers, as I've been saying for years. It's beyond belief that he can't control a football with his feet.
Was he actually getting out of the way of Middlesbrough shots today? I think he was on the ground before the first and third ones went in! Complete joke of a keeper.
One of his worst displays following one of his best last week. He's an inconsistent keeper which is not a good trait.
Seemed like it to me too but was waiting to see what others thought. At least his attempt to come up for a corner near the end was repelled. Not sure if that was his teammates or the Rookery shouting at him to fook off.
He's absolutely hopeless and on top of everything seems like an arrogant, thin-skinned tosser. Absolutely crazy that some of our fans were impressed that he made a few saves last weekend in a game where his goal was peppered with shots for the entire game and we conceded three.
Been saying from start of season that our GK issue is the biggest problem. It instills no confidence and he cannot play the type of footy Ismael wants. Why this was not sorted pre season I have no idea
Would have been interested to see if he’d gone up for the corner whether he’d have been brave enough to stand near the penalty spot or whether he’d have insisted on hiding behind the Boro keepers goal line.
Think we, and he, are suffering from having no real competition for Number 1. He's an average Championship level keeper who used to be a an above average Championship keeper. But now, with the captain's armband and a 5 year deal, he's too comfy. Couple that with our alternatives to him being U23 players, and the definition of a '3rd choice' in Hamer, he knows he can **** up on the regular and he'll still be in net next week.
