Right, so it seems that the “concern” is over civil servant privacy.

Hmmm. Surely if there was an issue then the details could just be redacted before being made public?

TBF, he is constantly making the point that he is not a Medical Doctor, and I am unaware of anyone that has mentioned him that did not have the understanding that he was a research/educational nurse, and has been doing this type of information dissemination as an aid to study/research since the nineties, when he shared his info by mailing lists. I can’t say that clicks do not attract him, but I think that applying modern YouTube “content provider” sensibilities to him is a little trite, not to say misleading.

He was an enthusiastic promoter of the vaccine and WHO/big pharma claims for the first year and a half of the pandemic, but has ended up going down some nasty rabbit holes because of subsequent research, and admissions by government and pharma that the original data they were providing was, at least in part, misleading and erroneous.

I trust him for the most part, because he always supports what he is saying with data, but I do not simply accept everything he says. Certainly I trust him more than I do pharma and politicians with vested interests. His greatest concern seems to be the lack of questions being asked and research being done into things like excess deaths and significant vaccine related morbidities. He is not saying that “the worst” is happening, only that in normal an appropriate academic/investigative response is not being reflected, and that should concern everyone, not least because the apathy cannot fail (in those that give a damn) to be construed as possible white washing.

It would be interesting to know what sources you guys rely upon for information? Beyond the vested interests, there seem to be very few options, and Doctor John seems to be one of the more reasonable.

If anyone has independent sources they feel would be more beneficial to view, I would genuinely be interested.

What with the Government being so concerned for Civil Service welfare n’all.

The messages obviously implicate the current Government as being on board with Johnson’s behaviour/duplicity/incompetence. Johnson reasons that he can’t be damaged more, but he can create a firestorm for the current leadership and emerge from the ashes as the candidate once more. Huzzah! Fwah!

A clue might be gleaned from the Popbitch article:

Well, you see the problem is Johnson had to change his phone after May 21 I think as his number was on the internet apparently so his Whats App messages are from only after that date. I imagine somebody else has the messages from before that date somewhere so all will come out in the end.

Turns out that tweet may not be entirely true.

The enquiry is only entitled to request relevent information, not his entire whatsapp content. If he is correct in saying he has handed over all his covid communications, they may have to take his word for it.

No accounting for some (potential) political hack making hay whilst the sun shines. Troll's gotta troll.

Sounds reasonable to me. But then, I'm a reasonable person.

Ah, I see. Hooter is going through one of those manic phases when he feels he must reply to everything I write.

Johnson playing the good guy here....?

Or is it the fact that, as ministers have conceded, the Inquiry is very likely to be successful in it's legal action against the Cabinet Office and this information will have to be provided anyway?

Johnson's actions are never altruistic so I suspect he thinks that doing this will be far less damaging to him than it will be to others in the Tory party.

Yes, he’s certain the messages etc will damage some of the bastards that have done him down.

I was lucky enough to hear the 5th Baron Bethell pontificating to us serfs being interviewed on R4 this morning and explaining how the covid enquiry doesn't need to see unredacted, nor any, WhatsApp messages as they would be just full of stuff such as what everybody's coffee order was.

Covid WhatsApps used for coffee orders not big decisions, says ex-health minister

Presumably he's not related to James Bethell whose wiki page informs us that:

Reference [11] is: MP Owen Paterson faces suspension for breaking lobbying rules

Reference [12] is: Owen Paterson: Minister confirms government 'unable to locate' minutes of call between ex-Tory MP, Randox and officials

Hopefully the WhatsApp messages will go some way is clearing-up this 'unpleasantness'.
