I have assessed the range of realistic current ability of the squad relative to players that have played for us in recent years, it is clear to see we are going to finish 15th:

    Sadler < Ngakia < Doyley
    Danny Rose = Feline AIDS
    Reece Brown < William Troost-Ekong < Mackay
    Spring < Louza < Guedioura
McEacheran < Cleverley < James Garner
Forestieri < João Pedro < Mooney
Jure Travner < Adam Masina < ****inson
Gavin Hoyte < Ken Sema < Doyley
Adalberto Peñaranda = Disease the pitch had when the stand was being built that wouldn't go away
    Anya < Kamara < Layun
Dale Bennett < Cathcart < Martin Taylor
Damien Francis < Gosling < Keith Andrews
    Ikpeazu < Bayo < Iwelumo
    O'Toole < Quina < Sean Murray
    Pudil < Femenía < Cassetti
Hoban < Samir < Fitz Hall
    McNamee < Isma*la Sarr < McAnuff
    Ross Jenkins II < Dele-Bashiru < O'Toole
    Dennis = Vydra
    Loach < Bachmann < Foster
    Mayo < Kabasele < Cox
Buckley < Samuel Kalu < Yeates
    Bonham < Dahlberg < Bond
    Neuton < Sierralta < Nosworthy
Eddie Oshodi < Pollock < Mike Williamson
    Pussetto = Anal Piles
    Blizzard < Baah < Murray
Lee < Maduka Okoye < Poom
    Townsend < Hungbo < Forsyth
Lewis Young < Dapo Mebude < Liam Henderson
Gareth Williams < Kayembe < Mahon
Park Chu Young < Asprilla < Richarlison
Acuna < Rey Manaj < Geijo

We really didn't. We also didn't have £150m+ of external debt to pay if we did.

    2006/2007 to 2011/2012: (PL - 20th), 6th, 13th, 16th, 14th, 11th

Unless Pozzo sells up and the new owner deals with the debt we will soon see what dreaming of 15th looks like, no matter how much the COGs scream 'what about Bassini'. These idiots realise how much imminent danger we are in, or they do but they have... let's say... alternative incentives that keep them quiet. Unfortunately Daddy's boy has been left alone too long with the train set and broken it - so yes it is worth 'rolling the dice and risking another Bassini' as currently we have somebody without a driving licence approaching a bend at 100mph

Gavin Hoyte < Ken Sema < Doyley

Are you suggesting Sema is better than Doyley? Doyley wasn't the best technically but he had a passion for the club and "that goal" of course. I could be reading it totally wrong, and if so I apologize.

“He (Gino, Watford’s current owner) is the one who’s always wanted to expand the football side of our business,” Giampaolo Pozzo, Gino’s father, explains. “He’s the engine of everything we do. The one with the biggest output in industrial terms is Gino, and he has the final say on most things we do. Let’s just say that he’s the real expert, even if he never played football as a kid. He spent his youth travelling the world and studying, sent by me.

This is the real mastermind, a trust fund boy who never played the sport.

That whole post is a clusterfukk in many ways, but this stood out the most: Liam Henderson isn't better than anyone.

So to run the business of a football club, what is important is that you kicked a ball professionally (we’ve all played the game for fun, even Gino I reckon), rather than spend years studying both business in general and the business of football specifically? Why is that?

And all the art COGs would grin ear to ear as Gino returns to the gallery from a Corfu seafront having spent £40m on a caricature drawing of David Cameron

Wow. Sooooooo many assumptions about a man who has barely ever spoken publicly, and who I’m willing to bet you’ve never met.

First assumption - he is virtually the only Italian man never to have played football. As a parallel, the Agnelli family have a regular family football match. At the San Siro. What makes you think Gino has never had a kick about?

Studying business in the abstract is never redundant if you run a business. Understanding how to read and run a balance sheet, understanding the importance of strategy, differentiating between strategy and operation, all are vital to run any business, whether you are funded by a trust fund or not.

If this is simply a scheme to generate generational wealth (as opposed, say, to a father doing a job and putting savings aside for his kids?), it seems much more labour intensive than necessary.

What we have here is someone with zero experience of running a football club (or any business at all I’d wager) criticise someone with extensive experience and knowledge, based on half-understood conclusions from incomplete data and unsupported assertions.

I’m not saying the conclusions are wrong, merely that the process used to reach them is deeply flawed. Not to mention borderline libellous.

Invite him onto a the Pod and we'll find out, Jon. They're also not libellous as I haven't made any accusations other than my opinion that he is a useless ****, and stating that he would minimise his tax personal liabilities which is a totally reasonable assumption to make - because Gino does business properly.

No he wasn't. He was a very good defender but no good at passing. He would have been a superb central defender if he'd been a bit taller.

Yes one of the best man-markers I’ve ever seen at the club. Utterly committed. As you say, hopeless in possession of the ball.

I always had Carlos down as a happy clapper.

I think the BW Ubersturmfuhrers have done a Patty Hearst on Carlos, kidnapping and brainwashing him.

Next they ll be setting him for a bankrobbing job to fuel the BW campaign funds.

I don’t have a pod. You really don’t read anything do you? - that’s the umpteenth time I’ve made that clear.

I said “borderline” libellous, but at least you’ve looked into the legal situation before posting, which is both sensible and indicative that you are concerned. :)

So he’s useless - and yet sensible enough to minimise personal liabilities, which is far from useless (for useless in financial matters see Bassini).

Glad you acknowledge he does business properly. I’m surprised you do, given the tenor of your other remarks.

So we’re agreed - you have no experience of running a business, no experience of running a football business, believe basic business knowledge is abstract and therefore redundant, yet feel your opinion is substantial. That is your prerogative, of course.

Defending? I haven’t defended him at all.

In fact I specifically stated that I was not questioning the conclusion (nor agreeing with it - I simply can’t tell if it is correct) but was challenging the stated process.

Nope - without reliable methodology, any resulting conclusion is meaningless. It is good practice to scrutinise the logic behind a position before accepting it.

You’re on an Internet forum, good luck with that and have fun.

I tend to just take issue with stuff I don’t agree with or believe to be true, but if you want to do it with basically every post even if you don’t disagree with them then good luck with that.
