Blackpool have started very well overall... I wouldn't rule them out as a contender.

Losing the manager was key to West Brom.

Tom Cairney after 11 months out back for Fulham which probably isn’t good news for Chalobah and Quina .

Not even in the squad tonight - injured ?

Well done Troy for finally scoring when it mattered! Also created the chance for McGree's goal.

Brum only one point below Swansea now, who don't look like they're going to be in the promotion shake-up again - hopefully this will spark a renaissance for Troy?

Down to League 1, Charlton surprisingly win at Sunderland after unsurprisingly sacking their manager mid-week - and Sheff Wed despite being a division lower still can't hold onto leads to save their lives...

Yes shame they didn’t. Would have given us only one slot to avoid.

Mildly concerned about the strench emanating from the Championship play off places…

And Fulham were apparently going to romp the league, yet they’re already an incredible 8 points off the top spot.

7 teams on the same points from 5-11th!

Doesn't smell great at the top, either.

I would prefer for 4 of the current top 7 not to get promoted...

I’m guessing L*t*n, QPR, B’mouth and possibly Boro because of Colin?

It's interesting seeing how much Muff are steamrolling everybody early doors. I thought they would do well this season especially with us and Norwich gone. WBA and Fulham are good sides but lack something Muff have, a good
manager. Silva is a back stabbing snake, and WBA are a bit inconsistent. If we do stay up this season, and Muff do get promoted, will be interesting to see if our "rivalry" re-ignites".

Oh yes - hadn’t realised that was the case. Hopefully the wheels come off - can you imagine the grief we’ll get from their Neanderthals if we pass one another at the end of the season?

I know it’s not the Championship, but really pleased for Wigan that they have started so well, after the crap their fans were put through a couple of seasons ago.

Totally agree. Wigan away is a nice day out, when we last played them in the Championship (think we won 1-0) their fans' were really nice never had a bad word to say about us. How their owners treated the club and the fans' over the past
few years is disgusting. They are lucky they never went the way of Bury. Would always welcome Wigan back to the Vic in a friendly or the cup.

If L*t*n win the play-offs it’ll be the first time a team goes all the way to the top flight after being promoted from non-league (as opposed to being elected to the FL).

Can’t see it happening though, already two of the top three look odds on for automatic, with whoever just misses out joining them.

With both Quina and Chalobah not even in the squad the last couple of games.

Luton, QPR, B'mouth and Fulham. I don't mind Colin getting pronoted due to the National meltdowns he'll probably have...

King Marco taking the piss yet again. Imagine what he'd have done in that league with us last season.

    We'd have got 150 points.

The Fulham v Forest pre-match news said that Chalobah was injured. Quina not mentioned.

Not sure about Chalobah (although futmob didn't mention an injury) but Quinas been playing for their U23s.

Can't say I'm surprised - I've seen a few comments from Fulham fans who have been disappointed with Quina.

Yes and having to pay off a number of unwanted players or still having to keep some - like Etebo.

Least we managed a clear out of sorts after going down and this summer been able to off load other high earners .

    Obviously getting promoted helped !

Oh yes of course. Stoke have started quite well this season, and the millions they would get on promotion would help balance the books. However, you could say that to almost all
the Championship sides who are not at least having Parachute payments. It's such a shame the some of the riches of the PL cannot be filtered down to help other clubs out, especially those
in LG 1 and 2. I mean, on what some players earn a month could finance a lower league club for over a season!

A £91m loss is utterly mental in the Champ. That being said I'd imagine/hope they've turned a corner with that now, they've switched up their recruitment and have bought cheaply but smartly over the last season and a half which now they're seeing the fruits of. That being said, a quick look on Transfermarkt shows that they have 12 players out of contract in the summer, most of which you'd imagine were signed on big wages that won't be renewed (Steven Fletcher, Tom Ince, Joe Allen, Clucas, Chester etc) so there's still a big rebuild job to do!

£43m of the loss relates to writing down player values but wages were 106% of revenues before allowing for any other costs so big loss inevitable anyway...

  31. reids

Letting go Steven Fletcher, Tom Ince, Joe Allen, Clucas, Chester, Batth + Smith at the end of the season will save them roughly £9.5m in wages each year which is a start...

Yes and look at the appalling quality of that little lot too. Utter dross that has almost bankrupt them. Puts our issues with Deeney & Gray into perspective.

Stoke are owned by Bet365. They have lent them £187m which is a drop in the ocean when they are sitting on £2bn in cash thanks to their trading/ business model. I wouldn’t worry about their finances - the owner of Bet365 Denise Coats paid herself a salary and dividend for one year of £225m in 2018 IIRC ( after a not dissimilar amount the previous year) and they publicly stated they are fully behind the club they own

You missed off that probably their best player in Nick Powell will also be out of contract - I'm still very surprised that no one from the PL picked him up for cheap last summer. Maybe someone will in Jan.

Agree with that. On his day looks more than comfortable to be able to perform at a higher level. I see the big Aussie CB is getting mentioned in the press with Spurs and Everton making enquiries. Could see him moving on in January. Hopefully Spurs so maybe Rodon becomes available. Would love to see him in a Watford shirt.
