Moor shameful display?

  1. We outclass and humiliate a limited Burnley with a clean sheet and 3 or more goals

  2. We outfight and frustrate a limited Burnley with a professional win but a slender margin

  3. We grind out a goalless draw with a clean sheet at last

  4. We battle hard but fall to a last gasp goal by their substitute from a set piece

  5. We are outfought and out thought by a limited Burnley who see us off in a comfortable 1–0

  6. We completely crumble to a limited Burnley and lose by 3 or more

  7. The game is postponed because of Covid

They're close to signing Weghorst and Orsic apparently. In addition to having Cornet back. They've absolutely nailed their delaying tactics, looks to be a masterstroke.

Yes they have played a tactical and transfer blinder. Remove the old Wood (literally) and then strengthen with the inflated fee, plus get Cornet back. They may still give NUFC/Brentford a run for their money.

Imagine taking 1 point from games against Newcastle, Norwich and Burnley. Even 2 points now isn't good enough, this needs to be a win. End of.

What a stitch up it's amazing how their players recovered so quickly!!!

And surprise surprise they now not only have Cornet back from AFCON, but they appear to be signing two new players with the Wood blood money aii ln time for our rearranged match

Yep, absolute genius from Burnley. Fair play to them. Wish we had the foresight to do this sort of thing.

Seeing how we 'performed' against Naaarch, I still think we've got a better chance on the 5th Feb than 18th Jan.

But we’ll have Pussetto and Zeegelaar back on deadline day, so it’s swings and roundabouts.

And as one of their fans said we held Dennis back for such games and now he is banned anyway..

Realistically we’re going down, so if we lose against Burnley the silver lining is the 3 points might help them stay up ahead of Newcastle, which would be hilarious if it ends up being the case they funded their own relegation.

True, I'm fully in the Burnley camp now. Their players are sh!t but at least they try.

It would be, but the flipside of that would be only one automatic promotion spot next season

Doesn't matter. We're already destined for 600 years of relegation.

Not hilarious when they are 25 points clear next season and we’re chasing only auto place.

A point in this game won't be disastrous unless we lose the following game after. Right now, I will take a draw in each of our next three games over a win against Burnley and then losing the following game. If by any means we are able to avoid consecutive loss in Roy's first three games, I will start believing we can miraculously survive relegation this season and I will give Roy lot's of credit for proving me wrong about his appointment.

I have watch him a lot at Lyon and at Burnley yet I still don't understand why people are raving about him. Am not worried a bit about him playing against us!

Sarr is the better player because both are skillful and pacy but Sarr has the better scoring ability while Kalu has the better cross and helps the team defensively when defending. But if both are available for a place on the right wing, I will go for Kalu because am certain he will use his ability to help the team and will give 100% efforts on the pitch to avoid playing in the Championship next season. But with Sarr in the team we are often playing like a man down until we come up against a team he finally feels like turning up to show his ability, then he scores and win the man of the match and everyone forgets how **** he has been in the past four to five games.

Careful.!! I said something similar recently and got my rse slapped..
I agree with you tho, Sarr is an out and out winger and never looks comfortable when he's dragged back into our half.

I dreamt we scored in this game by slipping the ball in at the near post in the tightest of spaces after a goalmouth scramble. An ugly goal and the kind that we’ve conceded all too many times this season, but likely one that will decide the game either way.

I woke up not being sure if the goal stood - knowing our luck it wouldn’t surprise me if it had been ruled out for the narrowest of offsides or obstruction by another of our players :(

If we lose this game, hopefully the forum can maintain some semblance of calm and reasoning.

Hodgson has got a lot of work to mend a defence that has been leaking 2-3 goals per game.

He's got teams out of worse fixes than this before.

No he hasn't. The closest was Fulham, who had 14 points from 19 games when he took over; West Brom were outside the relegation zone and Palace were only 4 games into the season.

Ok fair point , we’re 14 from 20 so not quite as bad as Fulham’s 14 from 19.

WBA were 17th only on goal difference of 1, and with only 13 games left to play . We have 18 left to play this season and so more time to instigate change .

I think my bigger point still stands which is we need to hold back on the forum hysterics if we lose our first game under Hodgson.

Selection pressure would tend to drive an infective agent in that direction, yes (killing your host is not a good idea). However, evolution tends to operate over very long periods of time and mutations are more or less random, so we might expect new variants to crop up from time to time which are less benign than Omicron. For instance, In 1918/19 'Spanish' Flu killed around 50, 000,000 people. The next big pandemic, I think, was 'Asian' Flu in the 1960's, which I believe did for a lot of people.
On the other hand, one has to think about how one is to continue going on with one's life.

Lets face it, if "Dont Look Up" was a British movie, rather than Hollywood, the final scene of everyone preparing to die wouldnt have been of a family holding hands and praying at a communal dinner table, ruminating on love and fellowship in the last gasps of humanity.

It would have been of a riot in a pub because the beer had run out with only 10 minutes left to go.

Well this is the worst situation he's walked into at a Premier League club, but Fulham was definitely a worse situation than the one we're in towards the end of 2007/08 - they were six points from safety without an away win with just five games to go with a much worse goal difference than 17th place Birmingham, having only managed a draw at already relegated Derby and lost 3-1 at home to relegation rivals Sunderland. Then they had to win their last three games (two of them both away at Man City and Portsmouth) to stay up after being five points from safety.
