Bournemouth have played 1 in 4 games against 10 men

  1. They've also had 10 ( T E N ) penalties awarded this season.

    Highlight is this against Leeds:

    I can't believe they have had 10 (T E N) penalties awarded them.

They certainly seem to get rather dubious decisions consistently go for them.

Every 3.5 games, a player playing against Bournemouth has been sent off this season.

That can't be rrrroight, can it?

I remember Angella got mistakenly sent off at Bournemouth last season as well......so it's been going on for a while now.

Yes but the Angella last year was a case of mistaken identity..so we would still have had the sending off, it was just the wrong player.

To balance things up, most people thought Tamas deserved a red card in the home match this season. And Pudil last night. Neither were red carded.

I see to remember the penalty Fabbrini won in the 6-1 last season not being entirely clear-cut either!

Do you think it balances it up, by sending off a player incorrectly after 30 SECONDS, and then not sending one of with about a minute to go?

Making such a huge and incorrect decision at that time in the game was criminal, and cannot be compared to anything else. It invalidated the match before it even got started.

That Fabbrini penalty was one of the most clearcut decisions I've ever seen. I was sat almost right in front of it in the Lower Rous that day, it was a definite penalty.

Could you please explain your reasoning in regards to your comment about the Fabbrini penalty? Looked a stonewaller at the time and in every subsequent replay.

Fabbrini dives all the time because Italian.

No of course I don't. The balance comments were referring to Tamas, and to just trying to look at a discussion from both sides. No words can excuse the terrible decision to send off Angella last night. It was a shocking decision.

Watford Talk, I agree. But I seem to remember Bournemouth feeling hard done by. A couple of their players ran to the ref protesting I recall.

Didn't Palace have a ridiculous amount of pens when they went up?

Shocker! Biggest bunch of whingers I've seen this season. But that Fabbrini penalty was the clearest penalty you'll ever see.

Studs in the chest...not even a booking, but in fairness to Probert there were a cluster of players in front of him obscuring his view.

Surely not! Bournemouth's player haranguing the ref over every decision? That doesn't sound like them at all.

Obviously no argument from me that last night's red card was ridiculous and, yes, that is a high number of penalties and red cards in Bournemouth's favour. Playing devil's advocate, though, you could say that the style of football they play will always result in a higher than average number of fouls against them. I don't think there's any conspiracy either for them or against us. What I do think is that Probert had a nightmare of a game and made a shocking mistake less than a minute into what could have been a great match which killed the game and meant we were stuffed. And I think he allowed himself to be 'talked into' awarding a red which pisses me off more than anything.

Boro have had a few as well.

I was thinking before the game we've come a lot clearer in terms of discipline and just general foul play/diving..

They claim its because they have quick players who get caught (remember Bale had that excuse) and probably because the players involved are generally British and not in the Premier league no-one cares.

Afterall "its all part of the game" much like the players rushing towards the officials which ALL teams do because it generally works.

What I will say is that we, meaning the official line the club takes, is always to ignore a bad decision. I think that's the wrong thing to do. Zola did not say a word during his season, and the bad decisions kept on coming. The season before, Dyche went to the FL with video evidence to show numerous bad penalty decisions going against us. The result of this was immediate, and we started to get penalties again.

I think the club has to make comment, in the right ways, to highlight blatant incidents that go against us. Look at Mourinho, and his conspiracy campaign with Chelsea. It may sound like sour grapes with him, but this is a calculated protest in order to stop decisions going against his club. It brings it to the attention of the media, and is in the public eye. When people are looking for it, it tends to stop.

Have the club said anything yet about whether they will appeal?

Nah we won't. We're taking the view that the luck will even itself out over the rest of the season.

He's not touching Ighalo at that point. Show us a couple of frames on because I'm pretty sure the multiple replays last night showed very very little actual contact. Followed by Odion rolling around like he'd been shot.

Then why were we so unfairly punished in Zolas first season?

Bournemouth have a certain image of underdogs, with British players and a British manager. When they go down, it must be because they are fouled. It is equally their good football, their mythical team-against-the-odds status which brings the media on side and their lack of softie diving foreigners in a league where real men dominate.

You cannot put it all down to the way they play, look at both the ratios of red cards for and against, and the number of penalties awarded for and against, in their Championship matches. They are incredibly disproportionate. I have seen three ridiculous decisions go for them this year, and I've seen very little of them.

It is beyond doubt that the officials are being favourable towards them.

Ironically it was when somebody spoke out about Palace that their season started to fall apart. I wish Joka had done the same yesterday.

It's a high foot into the body of a player. It's immaterial whether it was full studs into the chest or just brushed the player. It's dangerous play and is certainly worthy of at least a yellow card.

Arter deserved a red card also, but was only given a yellow for an earlier incident just after the penatly.

It was also the fact he thrust his foot forward. He'll argue going for the ball but clearly only too happy to take the player as well. I'm not a fan of Igahlo's theatrics but that was a ridiculous challenge.

I think you're over-thinking it. 99 times out 100 players go for the ball in a situation like that through instinct. Usually the bounce catches them out and it's nigh on impossible to pull out of. I agree he should have been booked but lets not pretend it was anything more.

That's when we had FF and the like throwing themselves about - of course they would be seen as typical players from abroad who cheat when they can.

After all somebody like Deeney never seems to be accused of this and that by other fans and he does it too...

Refs are a bit like everyone else who follow the game - they see and hear certain generalisation and reputations.

Maybe, I'd had a few beers at the time. Seem to think I was shocked he wasn't even booked.

I think if you showed anyone who hadn't seen the game that picture and asked them whether or not they think the guy in yellow is about to take studs in the torso, they'd say yes.

It certainly looks like contact is imminent, but we all know that angles can be deceptive. I thought at the time it looked like he got raked but I didn't see the replays due to reading shoutbox outrage.

Good example; the Palace penalties certainly dried up when people started to question it and pay it more attention.

I think everyone should be able to agree that the number of red card decisions and penalty awards that have benefited Bournemouth are over and above what you'd expect to see on average, even for a team in the top end of the league. Derby are breathing down their necks and have nowhere near the number of decisions going in their favour.

It's also worth nothing that without those penalties/red cards, Bournemouth would almost certainly be further down the table than they are. Saying they probably deserve the decisions because they're currently topping the table is very much a chicken and egg situation.

  32. No! Cherries player put his foot out to 'stop the ball', got nowhere near, and left his knee in there for Fabbrini; about as clear cut a penalty as you could get, and far more intent than the penalty last night, which was clumsy rather than malicious.

  33. The worst thing about that incident was the Bournemouth player behind Ighalo who was shoving him at Kermorgant, reminiscent of Poleon for Leeds. What he did was very dangerous, and again, the ref did not see it or did not think it an issue, which I would consider to be either lack of perception or poor judgement. If anyone has not seen this on tv yet I recommend they have a look. The risk of injury in pushing one player into another are very high, as I am sure Bond would testify.

This may very well be true. I doubt there's a 'conspiracy' as such but it's also quite possible that the management at AFCB encourage a policy of 'clever cheating'. It's impossible to say whether Probert was talked into it or not. But AFCB certainly gave it their best shot. Doing that can either be encouraged or discouraged by the manager. I suspect the former.
