Hi, hope someone can help. My friend who left on his own after the match today got assaulted by 4 so called supporters on the way back to the station. Where Market Street meets the harlequin a young boy with an inflatable baseball bat started to hit him with it, he ignored this, went through charter place and out to the other side of the ring road. The lights were green at the pedestrian crossing which allowed the boy to catch up to him and he started hitting him with the inflatable baseball bat again. So he turned around to ask him to stop and 4 men aged 30 to 40 said "what you gonna do about it? " and then they started raining punches down on him and beat him up quite badly. No one stepped in to help apart from one guy who dragged him away and walked him to the station.

Interested to know if anyone witnessed this incident?

If this is where I think it is, on the ring road, there’ll be CCTV. Get onto the council and intu/whatever the shipping centre is called now.

I hope your friend is ok and not too shaken up.

Just to be clear about this, Visionon, an unaccompanied young boy repeatedly hits a grown man with an inflatable baseball bat, yes?

Thuggery aside, great to see you post again. It''s been a while...

As I understand it the young boy was with the 4 blokes, and they were encouraging him to hit my friend, all very odd.

Yeah I think the assault happened at the pedestrian crossing on exchange Road, I will have to persuade him to report it to the police.

Get the clubs involved too - lifetime bans. Nobody should go to a football match and be subjected to that for wearing a certain shirt.

There were about 4 police vans steaming into the street by the Palace Theatre from the Ring Road as I was driving round it after the game. I assumed it was something to do with Brum fans kicking off - was it related to this incident?

So in essence grown men used a child to initiate a scrap. Wow. How low can some people sink because of a football result. I sincerely hope your friend is alright and he reports it to the authorities. Football is a day out and entertainment regardless of who wins and loses, this sort of behaviour needs stopping although it's very hard to police every single fan who leaves the stadium. I echo what @Heidar said in getting both Birmingham City FC and Watford FC to look into it. Police can access CCTV cameras so that will be a big help. I wish you both well.

Not that I know of but could have been. Although he did say that there weren't any police around when it happened.

Yeah it's unreal. I would love for him to get the clubs and police involved, but he is gonna have to do it himself or want me to help, he hasn't indicated either yet. Get the feeling he doesn't want a fuss...

Might want to remind him about what happened to Nic Cruwys, and see if that persuades him to change his mind.

Obviously this incident is less severe than what happened to Cruwys, but it seems unlikely these thugs won't have another go at someone else in the future. Next time the victim might not be so lucky.

Loads of young lads and fat middle aged men hanging round looking for a fight outside the ground after the game, all seething with pent up frustration.

They started singing "Watford's a sh1thole" and my 15 years old daughter said "you're from Birmingham!". One of them shouted "you ******* slag" at her and look like he'd have hit her if she'd been near enough. She just laughed at him.

Good on her. What a bunch of sore losers Birmingham were yesterday. They are still relativly high in the table and having a dream start. Did they really expect to remain unbeaten all season? If it wasn't us it would of been some other club that ended their run, just like Sheff Wednesday did to us in 2000. I do not remember Watford fans' waiting outside the Vic to punch Sheff Wed fans' or call them names. Every club has these sort of supporters I guess, but it's a shame a few of them had to act like this.
