Dont deserve to be loosing but we desperately need a forward who can hold the ball up and bring others into play.

Another game where so far nearly every opposition attack comes down our left hand side.

I think Davis is meant to be that guy, so fingers crossed.

Yeah I’m not overly excited about Gaspar RWB but he did nearly score

Edit I’ve read yours wrong there! I thought you meant our attacks coming from our left.

Bags of possession, but can we score?
This is a test. A poor Birmingham side, but do we have the skills to win?

Take that. Good team performance let down by poor individual decisions.

    Keep the unbeaten run going.

Is this desperately unfair or is it all just a tad Ivic-esque, so far?

No Deeney to wreak havoc on that if it is, to be fair. Would have liked to see a supported Ivic here.

Not that great a performance to be honest. We don't look like a balanced team, I don't know what our strategy is. We have players who have the individual skill to get us goals, but we did not look like we had a proper game plan and we have so many gaps in our side.

Our defenders are all worse on the ball than each other, Gaspar is not a wing back, Bayo is not a 5m player and we had little on the bench to bring on.

Still a lot of work to do.

Proved me wrong. And Pedro had a poor 2nd half after I bigged him up 1st half.

Well that was 2 points thrown away

hard to describe the match , looked alright in possession but need to do more in front of goal.

we had a reasonable number of chances , especially JP towards the end , but he was having a bad day

Disappointing result, thought we might win. But still unbeaten. Sema played well tonight.

    On to the next one.

Deserved a win. Should have been well clear at half time. Definitely need some signings as the squad depth is thin.

Gaspar is solid but lacks the pace. We should have gone with Laird. Choudhury excellent. Kayembe needs to learn to use a right foot. Pedro blazed wide and some misplaced passes but in the first half he was excellent. Ghosting past players providing Gaspar with his chance. Would have liked to see Davis on earlier. Some signs of Asprilla and Pedro gelling in the first half.

So get a ball playing CB in, DM/CM and another wing forward.

Obviously we should have won that against a poor side but overall the performance wasn’t terrible and being unbeaten after 4 games whilst winning at home and drawing away is a good start

Looked a lot better after we took off Mogi Bayot and an off day for Pedro today will hopefully be a rare one

Thought Hamza was very good in the middle and Kayembe not bad either (although his cross field passes into the stand over Sema’s head we’re very frustrating). Gaspar and Sema looked ok but neither should be first choice in the wide positions

Would agree with Smudger that squad depth still looks thin, we need a few more options in certain areas

Deeney’s lack of goal scoring threat is even worse now than it was in his last few years with us. Thought Bacuna looked good for them in the middle

Complete Ivic-ball setup and a massive wasted opportunity. Birmingham are absolute gash and should of been put to bed, but we never got out of 2nd gear. I still don’t get what Edwards is trying to achieve. The wingers don’t play the ball into the box enough to create any chances and the build up play in the final third is embarrassing. Yes we are 4 games unbeaten, but Sheffield United was probably our best performance and that was 1st game of the season. We are one of if not favourites to win promotion, we need to start playing like it. We do not need 2 defensive midfielders on the pitch in this league

Meh, I'll take it. Still unbeaten. Boring though.

Pedro needs to learn to pass the ball, for first 20 minutes he looked fantastic don't know what happened after. Three overhit passes in a row killed him, must improve his decision-making.

Asprilla looks like he has football intelligence beyond his years with some of his play but also a certain naivety to some of the decisions he makes.

    If Sarr plays we win.

Manaj looks a bit sulky, threw his hands up a lot but will reserve judgement for a few more games.

    Gaspar is quality.

Chodhury good, Kayembe less good. Midfield desperately needs someone who can play a forward pass and play it well, quickly, with the right weight. Hopefully that's Louza.

Weird subs, thought Davis could have come on earlier.

Brum are rubbish, liked the blonde left back and I do think the weather hampered us and took some of our players by surprise, it certainly benefitted Brum's style more than ours.

Tricky with that odd wet substance landing from the heavens.

    What WAS it?!

Ken must be taller than I thought the number of balls that went over his head.

    JP all over the shop.

Good fortune ran out with line clearance and hitting post.

Bag the point and onto PNE.

    Filth lost I presume?

I don't think Brum are as bad as people think, they've got off to a decent start and I've heard a lot of good things about Eustace (who of course could have been our boss), disappointing result no doubt, although I suppose it's nice to get something after going behind, and surely there is still more to come from this team when Davis comes in

Well, balances West Brom out now. Overall disappointed not to get a win given chances made. A lot to learn from and take away. Bayo started well but after we lost the momentum during the 1st half became less effective. Asprilla looks a real talent and Sema grafted and earnt his goal. Lucky he wasn't injured either. Pedro was frustrating and would have subbed for Davis earlier though he didn't go hiding. Desperately needs a goal to settle himself for the season ahead. Gaspar got better as game went on.

More chances and the better chances to win the game, could've been 2-0 up before they scored.

Solid enough performance, good possession but not doing enough with it. Impressed with Asprilla, I think he will be a good player for us. Definitely need some composure in the middle of the pitch, which Louza should be able to provide when he's back.

Manaj did ok when he came on, thought Bayo showed a couple of nice touches early but got worse and worse as the game went on!

Amazed Davis only got 5 minutes, can only assume he's not fully fit? Looked a game where he could be the difference with more chance to make an impact.

Fair play to Sema, i've been a critic, but he was very good tonight and deserved his goal!

Solid enough start, 8 points from 4 - this projection would put us on 92 points come May.

    Roll on PNE Saturday.

Good first half for sure. Disappointing and frustrating second half, felt like we really got impacted by the weather conditions, which to be fair looked pretty bad.
I worry about our squad depth and also simply missing players of quality in a couple of positions. Also if we lose JP and Sarr, which seems like a fair possibility, we are going to look toothless going forward without reinforcements.
Brum played a solid defensive game in fairness to them.
Brum co-commentator was one of the thickest I've ever heard.
Not a totally inspiring game, but I guess a point on the road is fine. Feels like the club's activity in the rest of the transfer window is going to have more impact on the season than any one game at the moment. The squad feels too thin to be promotion favourites right now.

Oh and the ref was appalling. Brum got away with about 15 professional fouls to break up out play and get men back. That's what a yellow card is for ref.

Surely Davis would have had practically no proper pre-season at Villa even if not injured? He was always going to be shipped out, although 5 mins is a puzzler, either give him a proper cameo or wrap him in cotton wool surely?

Sema may be absolutely useless in the Prem, but we've seen 2 seasons ago that he's fine in the Championship, he'll chip in with his fair share of goals and assists when he plays
