I did in the not too distant past suggest it was only a matter of time before our championship seasons descended into the farce that our PL ones did, and here we are.
Just shows we don’t appoint well. Like last season - people wanted Munoz out but we ended up getting worse and worse managers .
I think they had it right at the start when they planned for the season ahead but not necessarily beyond that. Munoz was appointed for a specific short term job based on a number of prevailing factors that had arisen mid season, which he achieved, but it doesn’t mean he was suitable for the next job which was PL survival. Keeping him on was the error, but they had no plan B and were then forced into a serious of short term punts with the obvious consequences. We had it right with the Joka/QSF/Mazzari type decisions, but now we’re so focused on fire fighting it’s a vicious circle of desperate decisions, focusing on periods of a few games rather than a season.
Very much so - it was the right decision to remove the PE teacher, and it's right that we made two terrible decisions in appointing his successors that season; Hodgson in particular. I can't imagine that's news to anyone here, though, eh!
Some severely worrying things in here. In principle there's nothing wrong with charging players for food, but why does it have to be done in a shady way, as always? The sooner Giaretta is shipped off to Udinese, the better. Again just ******* off Head Coaches for no apparent reason. Will Wilder be happy with randomers turning up to training, the dressing room full of unwelcome guests, and Giaretta micromanaging how much sugar he puts in his tea?
Appalling management. Seems nothing was learnt from the unpaid bonuses fiasco. Allowing somebody to watch training without clearing it with Bilic first must have been another factor in demotivating Bilic.
Looks to me like a grim version of the children's game Guess Who? (You have to guess who your opponent has from a pack of people cards by asking questions about them like, has he/she got brown hair, or has he/she got glasses? In the fun new Watford version it'll be questions like, were they the third manager in a season? or, when we took them on were they retired? The beard question from the original would work as well.
Seems so if Ben Foster is to believe and he claimed players had been happy with it but that would have been a while ago when everything was fairly rosy I suspect. The relationship between player and board probably took a turn for the worse over the bonus situation and increasing the charge for food no doubt without a lot of say from the players won't help at all.
But the price of food is increasing for everyone. I don't think the issue is the increase, it's the fact that there was no warning/consultation given.
The counter to it being a stupid thing for the club to do, is that if it is commonplace and been going on for a while then it is just another example of a long line of excuses emerging from the club for the players avoiding doing their actual jobs.
This is exactly it. I'm sure the players aren't bothered about 300 quid either. It's the fact that it's been imposed without comms. The equivalent for me would be my company saying we were having a working lunch and food laid on, but then charging me for it afterwards. I can afford to chip in for Pret sandwiches but I'd resent it being handled so badly.
Can't say I like him, but knowing what we do now, I'm struggling to generate any negative emotions towards him
It's like having Michael O'Leary from Ryanair in charge. I honestly thing Gino is autistic - seems totally unable to read situations that seem incredibly obvious.
That's brilliant seeing it like that. Thanks for sharing. Makes me proud. Ours is a unique and special club. It's good to be different.
It worries me greatly that Pozzo doesn't attend games, what on earth is he doing more important than attending the 1st team matches of the club he owns? Why are people lower down the funnel being given excessive amounts of power, people who will jump ship like a rat when it submerges. League 1 feels like a real prospect within the next 3 years. We are an absolute shambles.
Personal reasons - that might be more important although probably depends on if he has been away from the club for a while rather than just on a Saturday afternoon.
Either that or just an incredibly arrogant scion of a rich and successful family who has achieved nothing of note himself, but believes himself worthy of supreme power above others purely by virtue of his birth, and has been parachuted into position at the head of a toy he can run as his own personal fiefdom straight into the ground. I would think the Andrew French 'interviewgate' saga gives us a decent indication into which one it is, if we needed it.
AL seems like a bitter man now. Gone are the days when he used to sugar-coat everything with positive spin. The complete opposite now it seems. Adam Leventhal @AdamLeventhal 26m People just point & laugh at #WatfordFC now. Bilic the latest boss to be chewed up & spat out by the dysfunction. Power struggles, penny pinching, ******* off players & more, behind the latest transition.
Quite the turn of events. I’d imagine the rest of the careerists and wish-they-were-careerists will be closely considering their positions in the machine.
