I think after the season he'd had, playing a fair bit under Ivic but being frozen out by Xisco, it wouldn't have served him well to put him in the line of fire in the Prem, but the fee was very small
Have people forgotten how woeful he was? We completely mugged him off last season and looked completely lost at times.
He was our best CB on the ball at the time but definitely had his issues defensively. But he was young and the potential was there. He's now built on that and has vastly improved defensively and is much more well rounded and looks like a steal for Stoke. Still pretty poor in the air though
