Has the manager lost the dressing room already, working them too hard as I can't believe the amount of Sunday league mistakes being made by our so called professional players. Is it done to get him out? What are your thoughts

You really think the mistakes made today were done on purpose?! Did Bachmann actually mean to miss the penalty save?

It wasn't great at times ,actually verging on Keystone Cops, however to suggest it was deliberate
is nonsense in my view .

People make mistakes in their jobs every day all over the world. Heck I get told by a computer that I screwed up and I have to take it on the chin because I cannot talk back to a machine.

Anyway, I think the mistake Hoedt made in particular is not one he is likely to repeat (I hope) for the rest of the season. Porteous had a very poor game by his own standards and even the first goal could of been avoided had Serralta just passed to Louza who was in acres of space. It was a very entertaining game and on some merit a fair result. But it did highlight the fact we are still making elementary mistakes and VI has two weeks now to try and fix that. Fifth game of the season and we produce arguably our most entertaining performance, good and bad. No team is perfect (apart from 'the machine' Man City) and all will have bad days. As bad as it feels to throw away a lead three times in one game, spare a thought for the Boro' fans who are in a worst position than us and cannot buy a win at the moment.

Things will improve, and there is no evidence to suggest anything that was done on the pitch by our players that lead to a goal was done with intent or malice. VI has got a good thing going here. We scored three goals today after scoring none for almost 500 minutes of League football. Even that stat is pleasing.

No didn't think the own goal was done on purpose just a lack of confidence or concentration. But why do the players always find a way to mess up. Makes you wonder though. Anyway win the next three games and everything will be hunky Dory come on u horns

Inexperience, poor coaching, ability or lack of confidence. There are various reasons players' can make mistakes. Hopefully they do learn from them and thus become a better player for it.

Bad eggs are: hard-boiled; soft-boiled; traditional poached where they're waxy and dry and round with a thick spongy layer of white; omelettes; any egg in a burger; any egg on a pizza.

Good eggs are: perfectly fried eggs to my specification with a full English; modern chi-chi hipster poached eggs with a very thin white that are basically 3D fried eggs with a full English; scrambled on toast very occasionally indeed as long as they're neither too wet, nor too dry and springy/congealed, and carpet-bombed with cracked black pepper.

I doubt it’s down to attitude, not at this stage of a season.

However, I despair at the amount of basic errors we make during a game. Poor throw ins, free kicks, poor decision making, basic passes. It’s been like this for several seasons or more.

It’s a drop in quality and training, though it’s not as if our players cannot do these things.

Hopefully that game is a one off for the defence. Both Hoet and Porteous have been standout players and by far our most consistent performers this season. Both had nightmare games yesterday, but it happens.

The problem is, we do not have any backup. We cannot rotate these guys if they play poorly and lose form for a period of time. Pollock is just not good enough as shown by his positioning for their third goal yesterday. We have no one else as Sierralta plays now in midfield.

It’s an insane position the owner/recruitment team have placed us in.

For once in a very long time i believe we have a squad of players that want to be here and we had to focus on ridding the squad of so-called ‘bad eggs’ and general crap built-up by our recruitment team/ownership. The squad is thin, but at a stretch we have 2 players per position + academy player as backup. Any team with an injury crisis will suffer, it’s not an exclusive issue to Watford. I’ve seen enough from the 5 games this season to believe we wont go down, but relegation is a much more realistic reality than promotion. Use this year wisely. Improve performances, strengthen positions in January with players ready and fit to go, not random youth prospects or squad fillers. Most importantly, back the manager, give him the right players to perform at his and our best.

Not at all. A bad day for our CB's yesterday, but overall i'm feeling positive. Mistakes can be cut out. Our new striker impressed me yesterday, he's going to get goals for us. The results yesterday also showed that this could be quite an open season, I don't fear any team in this league. It's very early in the season, however, this is a team I feel I can get behind and support. That's been very hard to do in recent years!

    Good question.

    Curried/pickled eggs: Fuccking disgusting

Scotch Eggs: Now HERE is the real quandary. Full size scotch eggs present a dilemma, because the outer two components (breadcrumb and sausagemeat) are delicious, but the inner component (a hard boiled egg) is disgusting. Mini scotch eggs, on the other hand, do not suffer from this major handicap, but that comes at the expense of good meat and crumb content. Even taking this into account, the answer therefore is that mini scotch eggs are unambiguously good, whilst full size ones are, unfortunately, bad - unless you can afford to take the bold step of halving the product as a whole and removing the poisonous centre, leaving a delightful handful of breaded meat. That is a financial decision, as much as anything, though.

What about the more gourmet type of scotch egg you get in restaurants with a runny yolk? The type we had to buy to get a pint during covid times.

If hot/warmed, that's just about more acceptable, but I'd still almost certainly be engaging in some kind of re-balancing that involved the removal of a certain proportion of the white to create a more favourable ratio. That level of Scotch Egg is what I'm imagining as the ideal in the aforementioned removal scenario, though.

A very comprehensive analysis thank you! I had one of those posh scotch eggs at the Stables which was served warm with a runny centre rather than hard boiled and served with brown sauce which was quite delicious, though you have already categorised soft boiled as BAD so probably not going to persuade you otherwise!

We probably know the answer already, but also keen to get your thoughts on the pork pie with a boiled egg in the middle?

The reason I’m asking is I’m mostly vegan so it’s nice to live vicariously through others, and I did used to like a slice of pork pie every now and then.

As you imagine, the egg does for it regardless, but I have a fundamental problem with pork pies anyway - they're potentially delicious, but as often as not they have that disgusting thick layer of cold, slimy gelatinous ooze between the crust and the meat. If they're served hot, or high quality enough to forgo the gloop, then sign me up! Unless it has an egg in the middle. In which case, put it straight in the bin.

Are you mostly vegan for ethical or health reasons?

I know what you mean about the jelly, I used to think it tasted delicious, but then when you think about what it actually is then it’s a bit weird.

It’s due to a combination of all the main factors really, but I went pescatarian about 5 years ago because I’d always struggled with the concept of being an animal lover, but eating meat. It was then a bit of a domino effect learning about the indirect issues all animal products have, and then eventually went veggie, then vegan.

Fairplay, good on you - ethically I can't really defend being an omnivore, but selfishly I can't really countenance giving up meat. I try and buy ethically farmed stuff, but that's a drop in the ocean, I fully appreciate. Hoping there'll be a miraculous breakthrough in factory-grown meat in the near future...

I'm not a veggie but could easily become a vegetarian and i try not to eat meat if I can help it.
However a bit of elephant leg in a pitta bread they sell in Turkish takeaways just hit the spot after a gallon of Peroni
But I must say If I can't eat honey on buttered toast then I could never be vegan.
    Not knocking vegans BTW

I used to have a good recipe for elephant leg.
You stuff the leg with herbs and spices , then cover it in a pit with stones and build a fire around it, which you keep going for three days. When you take it out of the pit the skin has hardened like a case. You just dig in with the family as there is enough for everyone.
