Here goes for this season up to this point - the highest percentages of the fullest stadiums and all others in order: Thoughts? Surprise teams? Disappointments? Over to you ...
I'm actually surprised Bournemouth aren't a bit higher but like us I suppose a couple of hundred short of capacity is going to impact the % for those with small stadia. Also our capacity has changed by a couple of hundred over the course of the season so I don't know whether the figures accurately represent that fact.
I thought Leeds fans were the best in the world and go to every game irrespective of the **** that's going on. Massive club.
Yup .... capacity changed by 900 seats since the first home game and as far as I know all home areas have been a 100% sold out all season. Practically all away areas too. I honestly think we would be top of that chart if this was allowed for.
Where have the 900 extras seats come from? The North West corner being 400.. though only open for last few games and not fully used. Where else?
the whole front of the SEJ? Edit: no it seems that was ready or most of it ... But wasn't ther something about the TV gantry in the GT? That or maybe WBA didn't sell their whole allocation.
Was open from the first home game.. http://open.http.mp.streamamg.com/p...nail/entry_id/0_s1w9k6u9/width/940/height/529 Our home crowds did seem to jump 500-600 hundred from the Arsenal game onwards but i believe the capacity has been the same up until the corner section opened.. and there's been barely a hundred sat there.
Sorry just saw your edit.. The TV gantry work didnt affect capacity as it was up under the roof. WBA brought 2,045.. just 100-150 below the largest away followings. Such a small a number is not worth taking into consideration but say there has been 500-600 fluctuations in attendance & it seemed to happen at a specific time in the season. Just coincidence i guess.
I may have dreamed it but wasn't the N end of the SEJ extended a little? Either that or there was work at the back of the stand? Unfortunately I'm too lagered up to think straight right now
There is a small section of extended seats full height of the SEJ (the first red seats in the photo below) but thats been part of the corner development.. part of the claimed 400 capacity for the corner. What you might be getting mixed up with was that the SEJ was supposed stop around the edge of the 18 yard box but was changed mid construction to go all the way to the goal line (the first yellow block in the pic) Also there were works at the back of the SEJ last closed season. They widened the areas out back to make extra space for journalists etc. See if you can find those extra 900 seats when your hang over wears off
From memory works continued past the opening game, it's quite feasible some areas may still have been closed for safety reasons
The only work has been on the corner section and that hasnt affected capacity on the rest of the stadium. Bottom line.. we have 400 extra seats in the corner section but as of yet they havent been fully utilised. The stats in the table are pretty much accurate imo.
I think the term 'sell out' is quite a loose one actually. I'm guessing they say that even if we are a few hundred short of it. Other clubs do as well. Look at the Emirates for instance.. always claim a sell out but their crowds do fluctuate by a few hundred as well. Interesting to see what todays attendance is given at.. quite a few empty seats around the place.
Surely that's because some people have tickets but don't attend, rather than not selling all of the available tickets? I was under the impression they took attendances from the amount of people through the turnstiles, rather than the number of tickets sold.
Dont know.. but take today for instance. Attendance 20,759 (4th largest this season) Yet there were a lot of empty seats? It might be that we, as most clubs, count ST holders in the attendance whether they are there or not & possibly we didnt earlier in the season for some reason?
all clubs count season tickets as sold .... but then there's the question of non attenders that let the club re-sell their seats ... I wonder if they get counted twice?
If there was no one in the ground the attendance would be the number of season tickets sold, don't know why they do this, I assume to do with accounts or something, with technology nowadays there is no reason not to get an accurate attendance figure
One explanation ive heard is that its done to make the Premier League "brand" seem more attractive.. or individual clubs. Presumably to attract investors or potential new buyers. Clubs have to keep a record of exact numbers entering these days.. for safety/policing reasons. So the info is there if they cared to publish it. BTW Not all football clubs count ST holders as being present. It has become common practise in the Premier League (though not at Spurs apparently) but i believe its less prevalent lower down the leagues. So i wonder how long we have? Presuming we do.
