Then we woke up and realised the Pozzos probably won’t be leaving that easily and there isn’t someone coming in to make everything perfect in an instant in reality as much as people won’t like that .
Not a bad prediction from a few weeks back that we'll not win any more games in the season aside from shocking Bristol City (and with much fortune). My prediction was sixteenth. Have a fiver resting on it so extremely concerned. @Moog to jump in here. Hope we lose.
Think my wardrobe will be minus a few strips this summer. Namely anything Watford related. Don't want to be castigated in public and linked to the Pozzo regime.
Where’s that Jon G from the pod gone? It’s been a while since he condescendingly let us all know that everything was fine and going to plan.
I’m guessing he finally realised that he was wrong about everything so hasn’t come back. Probably doing his new podcast under a new name pretending he’s always been Gino out.
Had Bristol City beat us we would be 14th instead of 13th and only 3 points above Birmingham in 17th.
Have to admit given your usually optimistic stance I was surprised to read your pretty harsh comments straight after the 3-0 win against Brum when you laid into Bachmann and called the players a "useless waste of space" - but sadly the last six weeks have proved you spot-on!
It’s been a horrible season hasn’t it? In my 35 years of supporting Watford I’ve stuck with the club through thick and thin. Supported them in the good, bad and ugly. I can honestly say that for me personally this is the worst time I’ve experienced with Watford. The past 4 years have been a massive failure on and off the pitch. It’s spiraled out of control and shows no sign of stopping. At least when things were bad back in the day, majority of the players cared, the club cared, you still felt connected. You still felt as though everyone knew it, understood it and wanted to get out of it. The players left everything on the pitch 99% of the time. For 4 years I haven’t seen that. I’ve seen my club, our club, get its heart ripped out by a bunch of mercenaries that pretend they play football. A fanbase that turns a blind eye to the disgusting treatment of the legacy GT and Elton built. A fanbase that doesn’t look out for the best interests of the club, only themselves so they can get an exclusive. A board that if in any other business would have been fired a long time ago for the continuous errors made. An owner that likes to get in bed with an agent that has countless discrepancies against him in multiple nations. That same owner employing a man who has no business in football whatsoever, is useless at his job, offers nothing, literally nothing, but has a say in all football matters at our club, when he’s more interested in sending nudes via Instagram than doing anything to actually benefit the club. This owner continues to pay another idiot one million pounds a year. One million pounds! If I knew that being a public liar would earn me a million pounds, I would have done that instead. Finally onto our owner, long gone are the days where you felt connected. He has done a fantastic job of destroying everything GT and Elton built with the community, the fans, the club. It all felt like we were one. Now we’re all silos, off in the distance, standing alone. No community, no connection, no club. He refuses to talk. Refuses to own up and admit that he’s being very wrong. Infact he would rather pay the £1000 fine than to actually have a fan meeting. An owner that has wracked up more debt than we’ve ever had in our entire history of being in existence! An owner that feels and knows he can do what he wants, because he knows our “fans” won’t speak up. Won’t go against him, won’t rock the boat because he saved us. This owner is dragging every aspect of Watford down. I love Watford because it’s my club but absolutely despise everything about it right now.
Several destinations. North Korea, the Kremlin or Tehran. Chemical Ali's footballing wally relation. Keep on right to the end of the road, keep on to the end.
I care about the result. I have spent my entire working life being competitive, for myself, for those who pay me and for Watford. I can't stop now but as all of us bar the Bedlam Brigade agree it's reached pitiful levels, especially after the loud music episode on Wednesday. "It's sad,so sad. It's a sad sad situation and it's getting more and more absurd." Finish this by sunrise Pozzo or I'll .....
Great post. The only thing I would take issue with is referring to and criticising ’the fanbase’ as a single entity. Of course there are elements of it that have behaved in the way you say, but the vast majority of us have simply been crushed into depression by what we have seen over the past few years. We don’t have the capacity to organise protests but just want back the club we grew up to love and not have to turn our back on it.
To be fair, at the risk of sounding like a cliche-spouting COG, they did build a statue and stand in honour of those respectively and renamed another stand after GT. I guess what you mean (backed by what you said in your second mention of those two) is what the club stands for in the bigger context, the club as they established it in the 70s and as we know it (or are supposed to - this is something that sadly our younger generation of fans and especially many of the players may not fully get).
You can almost divide this into 2 - first good 5 years if not a bit chaotic then the rest poor on and off the pitch and a real deterioration in fans/owner communication and relationship. Maybe since COVID?
thatd be good. Play the players who want to be here, play the youngsters or anyone likely to remain 0% chance it will happen Expect exactly the same shirkers giving no effort and playing individually for the last 2 games Even worse none of them will fake injuries as thatll scupper the chances of a lucrative move
I am happy that in the main our fan base comprises law abiding citizens who are able to keep a sense of perspective when their favourite football team loses a few games. Let's retain some dignity and express out frustration with the owner by sending strongly worded emails and leave more aggressive protests to West ham and their ilk
I think a well co-ordinated quiet tutting and shaking of heads after the 12th minute (the year they bought us) is the way to go.
They don’t seem as confident of them winning as we are ! https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/watford-forum.1605381/
Listen here Mackems you could field your reserves and win this at a canter. O'Nien to score a hat trick.
At least with our fall from grace we've finally found another Watford youth product who's gone on to bigger and better things!
It's ok everyone,Holly and Amy can play. They're Fran's daughters and they're ready to travel up on Friday. They're 9 and 7. Play the kids.
If there's any Sunderland fans reading this I want to say a massive I TOLD YOU SO to the Sunderland fan I spoke to after the 2-2 draw earlier in the season. He was walking along singing about the generous size of one of their player's chopper and I asked him how he knew and ended up chatting as we walked along Vicarage Road. He was pleased with a point against "a team that will definitely be up there at the end of the season" and I said that we wouldn't be up there as we have a team full of misfits and bottlers assembled on the cheap. We had some back and forth about it, shook hands and went our separate ways. I just want to say "I told you so".
Does it matter that it's Hannah and Holly? Amy maybe able to play but doesn't belong to Fran and Jan!
