Rave reviews from his performance today and a decent enough assist. Seems to be enjoying his football, maybe it'll all click? (Won't hold my breath)
Seems like he was called up by Venezuela for their friendlies against Malta and Saudi Arabia and left without telling his club Las Palmas, who have their two play off games against Tenerife over the same time period. One more year left on this waste of space's contract. Will we: a) pay him off b) loan him out again c) tell Rob Edwards that this is the guy to fire us to promotion
We will pay him off I reckon. Including wages a good £15m - £20m wasted on him. And before anyone comes up with the one big pocket argument, I don’t care - all I care about is our own finances.
I'd say there's blurred lines there. Given the email situation with Dennis and Nigeria surely Las Palmas would have been aware of the call up? Go with C...we're already a circus might as well have one more blast at it.
Another case of not properly profiling the player. Undoubted talent but completely mismanaged dovetailed with his own immaturity.
Cathcart, Cleverley, Fletch, Quina and Penaranda ("like a new signing") to fire us to the title. It's like printing money.
Bit of a **** situation but not as if he's a key player for them, last time he played more than 20 mins in a game was back in January!
Yep - Barca were definitely after him, in the same way that we beat Man Utd to sign that big fat lump Oulare from Belgium who effectively replaced Vydra in the squad (8 goals in his 7 year career so far, all in Belgium).
Tbf his dribbling ability is still fantastic, it's just the rest of his game hasn't developed to match his dribbling - and making it at the top level is a lot about attitude, which we've seen has been lacking.
Yeah looked at that, his role in the team seems to be to come on at 75 minutes. Presumably to carry the ball up the pitch a bit and win some fouls.
Were there any indications of his attitude before we signed him? Maybe just maybe if we hadn't messed him around and moved him to Udinese rather than keep him in Spain after his loan spell with Granada he'd have knuckled down and actually developed into what he was supposed to be?
'I just want hungry, home grown players, Scott, Filippo, Gino' 'What about a Venezuelan playboy waster who doesn't fit into your system, Rob?' 'Perfect' To be honest, suspect he's here to sort out his contract being terminated or his final loan.
Just a thought but if we hadn't farmed him out everywhere and just kept him here, would he now qualify as home grown?
No, I don’t think so. Part of the reason he was farmed out was to get his Spanish passport so that he’d qualify for a work permit, pre-Brexit.
Would be hilarious if he stays, smashes it then won't renew his contract and joins a big team for nothing next summer.
