    Normally, yes, but this year the 20th December is a Thursday, and nothing happens on Thursdays.

    It's nothing to do with numerical patterns you donuts

    It's the Winter Solstice, 21st December 2012.

    It's to do with the Mayan Prophecies, and the Mesoamericans, they worked by Solstices in their calendars.
