I always thought that 1 gallon = 3.5 litres but its actually 4.5. so, for say £10 of fuel put in, at £1.49 a litre and running an average of 40mpg, £10 will now get you around 55miles. This is 50 miles less than it was 6 years ago, or for a month or so, a couple of years ago. £6.80 a gallon is taking the pi ss
Absolutely livid that gas prices have gone up to $4 a gallon. Doubled in price during the last 16 months. Sickening.
We would love to have our petrol at $4 a gallon, that is a third of the price of petrol here in the UK!
True, but I bet the average American 'automobile' burns 3 times the fuel yours does? Having said that, I remember seeing an article sone time ago about car manufacturing in the us and that suv and pick up sales were hit massively and there has been a shift to far smaller cars due to the fuel price hike.
Standard transportation in Houston is a 36 gallon Ford F-150. Part of the reason why Houston has the worst air quality in the country. Well that, and mile upon mile of chemical industry plants.
I love the radio advert with the guy who has a boat and takes his wife out to fancy restuarants in his F150.
Car adverts advertise 32mpg as class leading - given the US gallon is smaller it's still poor. The US also has a massive adversion to diesel. only 8%, and thats a huge increase on recent years.
