A mate of mine who supports QPR has told me that there was some sort of misunderstanding regarding DG10's release clause and Colin is not prepared to pay the £4 million that we apparently want for him and they are instead going to try and sign Jay Bothroyd.
Good, he deserves better, and they don't deserve him if they don't think he's worth £4m in today's market. Colin can f**k right off.
JB. Allow me to dig out an old post. Originally Posted by 3000 View Post We're not going to get 5 million for him behave now. You obviously haven't seen how much 20 goal-a-season Championship strikers go for nowadays when sold at their peak. You then quoted my post and replied with this. The fact that DG works like a horse and can score out of nothing and isn't just your typical poacher means that we could easily get 5 million for him from a team like QPR or Newcastle, you have to keep in mind the price they got for Carroll in January. I believe QPR bid £2.5m for him. Thank you and good night.
The operative word is 'bid' mate. And we rejected it. He may not go for five but he'll go for lots more than 2.5m.
I see that you've gone to a lot of time and effort and everything but I believe that QPR's bid was in fact rejected. I don't think I was the only one disagreeing with you at that time either. Better luck next time pal. Thank you and goodnight. :sign15::sign15::sign15:
I dont post regularly, therefore it took me 1 minute to dig out old posts and find the right one. I dont care if you were not the only one, but you are the only one who seems to get into an argument of some sort on every single thread you post in. Its good for your health if you sometimes admit that your wrong.
Looking back at that thread now I can actually see that I didn't roast you for your comments like others did even though it would be easier to do so actually. I'll admit that I'm wrong when he goes for £2.5 million not when a club puts in a derisory offer to test the waters. If a club put in a £250k bid for Messi would that be his true value?
A bid to test the waters? Not what you were saying earlier when you were chatting about a bid from qpr to activate a £2.5m minimum fee release clause. That sounds like a pretty serious bid to me.
now that relegation's are sorted from the premiership and the play offs will be settled next week, it is more likely that further bids will come. I can see the likes of Wolves, Blackburn and Wigan all having a look, as will Reading or Swansea. Lets face it nothing ever happens till the start of July anyway. Players, agents, managers, chief execs all bugger off on holiday for the next month anyway. Its going to be a long slow summer.
naa hh is too old if he goes we need to invest in a proven goal scorer Mckail smith comes to mind if we get 3-4m for Big Danny
Yes, because at the time it was widely believed that there was a £2.5 million release clause in DG10's contract which obviously doesn't exist considering that we rejected QPR's offer. I don't really see where you are going with this to be honest.
Word is that there will be a bid within the next 2 weeks from WBA for £3.2mio so heading in the right direction, i think we will probably end up getting close to £4mio.
DG is hot property. If the club play this right there is a very high chance they could get more for him than even we think he's worth. I think time for a vbookie event.
I agree, he will probably go for around £4m. I also agree with the earlier poster that all three clubs promoted to the PL will show interest in Danny along with a few of the teams that finished in the lower half of the PL this season. Such as Wigan, Wolves, Blackburn and maybe even the likes of Bolton and Sunderland will show interest. Finally there could even be interest from the big two in Scotland as well!!! Come to think of it, if that many clubs show an interest in Danny, his fee could be pushed up to nearer to, or even over £5m :sign12: If that happens I will be over the moon in one way, CASH, but sad to be losing him as well!!! Add around another £2m for our add on from the likely Ashley Young move, plus around £1m in saved wages, Eckythump and Saddler coming off the wage bill and hopefully we might be able to bring in a player or three to strengthen the squad, even with having to use a fair amount of the cash to help balance the books.
Again still not sure if this is serious or not... But if you've actually heard this could happen, think it would actually be a fantastic move.
If WBA buy him can we put some clauses in about appearances etc and have some revenge for the Ellington deal?
we need to sit tight and see how much League 1 striker CMS goes to Norwich for at the age of 29. After that we can slap a tag on Danny taking in to account his age and the division he scored goals in
shirley the east stand is first priority as so many people on here have bemoaned it as shameful and embarrassing... Why when we are skint should we be spending money on players - when it was wrong to spend money on players when we were millionaires? always the same - bring in players bring in players -when they fail whoever is in charge is a scum canut.... If the fans want players brought in -they have to accept they may fail and the ongoing consequences being the east stand remains a reminder of looton - a shytepit.
By building a new East Stand, a potential new player will impressed with the new changing rooms complete with a sauna, jacuzzi, hairdriers, hot tubs and of loads of mirrors.
Realistically we will get £3.5m for Danny, but if multiple clubs are involved in a bidding war we might get close to £5m. Regardless of this, we won't see much of that money invested back into players. If DG leaves we will bring in a young loanee (like Weimann) as replacement and maybe a lower league player in the £300k region. That's how it's going to work in the foreseeable future. The ability to bring up players like DG to a £3m++ value is our most valuable asset, and that's a good thing considering how the economy in British football outside the Premiership is these days.
This is why I dont see the point of Bassini? He's taken over the club, yet we cant go forward because he doesnt have the dollar to allow for it. We remain a selling club and bring in players on loan and on the cheap. So much for finding a backer with 'heavy' investment. Bollox to you all, I'm going to make myself a delicious cup of tea, and I'm not making any for you.
Bet the Money goes straight into the deep pockets of Bas and we see very little of it as he needs to pay back £10.2 mill first, although over 5 years, then No new pitch, no changing rooms this year, no stand ever!
Knowing our luck we'll put in a clause about them staying up..and then the Baggies will do a Brum. Top 10 to relegation. BTW From what Mr Winter said at a Fans forum they were never looking for somebody to bankroll the club as such although it will be interesting to see if Bas can bring any stability to the club.
lets just hope that whatever money the club gets most of it goes towards players and not to the new owners to get back some of there money they payed out
