That's entirely possible under normal circumstances but the steward on the gate couldn't make it work (and even struggled with his magic card) and Mrs Willis, who is Chief Information Officer at her organisation, couldn't make hers work either.

I'm only half way through the thread so it's probably been answered, but that's exactly what it is.

I couldn't go to Villa so distributed those individual match tickets to my mate. I don't even have him listed under relationships.

He did set up a fan ID for himself and kids but I don't know if that was necessary.

He and his kids enjoyed the game.

    Northerners don't do tech.

The match will be the first game that it will be compulsory to show proof of vaccination though.

I think this is quite a big deal. We now have fully portable season tickets. It’s always been the case that you could lend your ticket card to a friend, but I imagine it was against the Ts and Cs, because some knobbers would lend their ticket to West Ham or Leeds fans.

My other question was what happened if you wanted to allocate a lower price category ticket to an adult. Ticket office confirmed that you need to ring to upgrade it, as it was before, but that’s cool. You wouldn’t want to be caught sneaking in on a kid’s ticket. Embarrassing.

I've upgraded the kids' tickets for adults before on the old system. Presume it's possible on the new but remains to be seen.

So they had stewards waiting by the turnstiles today, to glance at the ticket in my phone wallet and then manually let me in the ground.

    Completely idiotic. Clearly not working.

Hmm... worked fine at the Vic Rd / GT corner. I missed Villa but after all the fuss I was slightly surprised it worked first time on my phone and straight in. Maybe it's just certain turnstiles that are not working?

Seemed to be doing COVID vaccine checks at one turnstile but not all.

    Lots of empty seats still.

Anyone who fancies going to the next home game don't waste money on a ticket - simply wave a mobile phone at the steward at the turnstile who will let you in

Bizarre today. Steward fellow let me though and then ignored me as I waved my phone ticket as passing through.

Credit to stewards for getting people in, but clearly the new system is a complete farce?

I’m 100% sure you could get in with a screenshot on your phone if you hadn’t bought a ticket based off what I have seen first 2 games.

I got in despite the ticket in my electronic wallet, which did not operate the turnstile. Only later I realised I had not deleted the palace cup game one. I wonder if accidentally I had tried that and when it failed the steward just waved his pass and I got in. If so sounds like a potential easy way to get in to the home end. But after today who would want to if they had not already forked out for a season ticket?

Yeah, much more of this nonsense on the pitch and people will be praying the turnstile doesn’t let them in. Bit of a role reversal if stewards start forcing people into the stadium rather than turfing them out though.

I was more prepared this time and mine worked fine with NFC whilst my mate used the QR code and inserted his phone and that worked too so all good.

That said lots of people got there early and they had occupation road closed until the coaches had gone so a crowd had built up and then when we got in there was almost no food as they were unprepared although the beer was on!

Exactly the same for us. I had my phone ready and was quite happy to use it, but the steward just tapped 3 of us through without even looking at our tickets

    Bizarre

Rocked up at 2.55, more stewards than fans outside the ground, straight in to the ground. Does the new system even work? At Villa they just opened up the gate and yesterday they just scanned us in. Does seem the whole thing is open to abuse if they aren't going to check tickets, a screen shot of someone's ticket would get you in as it's barely even checked.

Based on everything people have said on here about yesterday I get the impression the club are more scared about the chance of queues than people without tickets getting in. Which seems like an odd way of operating.

Update: my new iPhone worked like a dream yesterday, but then again so did Mrs Willis’s existing one which hadn’t before. So now I have no idea what the problem is/was. Did anyone use the QR code instead?

I tried the NFC way (Android phone), phone vibrated but nothing else happened, before I had time to switch to the QR code the steward had already used his card to open the turnstile, though it was about 25 mins before kick off.

From now on I am definitely using the QR code as my phone obviously does not like NFC at Vicarage Road, even though it worked at Brighton.

I've used the QR code both times, no problems at all. Just load it up and hold it under the scanner like you would a ST/paper ticket. I've no idea why the club doesn't just say use the QR code as default, as it works perfectly whereas the NFC appears to be the devil.

My old man, who barely manages to switch his phone on without swearing and threatening to smash it, can use the QR code with no issues!

I bought a ticket for my grandson yesterday for the Newcastle game, to date it hasn't been uploaded to my phone (NFT) has anyone else bought an additional ticket and had it downloaded to appear with their season ticket, or do I have to do something else, the area in my ticket purchase is not highlighted for me to " push " it!, when I purchased it I ticked the box for NFT.
