Weird seeing a team in yellow unsettle an opponent constantly with a well-coordinated press.

I suppose people thought they'd struggle because of Vieira's limited experience as a manager and it was primarily Hodgson keeping them afloat but going by the BBC highlights he seems to be everything that Xisco wasn't at this level - pressing from the front with aggression and making substitutions that actually improve the result.

    Or not so much...

Was bringing on aging Tomkins who's hardly played in the last two seasons really a wise move? It just brought on the late pressure that led to their equalizer, when they'd been doing fine containing Arsenal up to that point.

Looks like Arteta is on borrowed time anyway, getting outplayed by Brighton and only scraping a point at home to Palace doesn't look like someone who's really turned the corner.

Another team showing passion and tenacious attitude compared to our gutless cowards. Notable exceptions for Sissoko and some of the forwards. Foster, Kucka, Kiko we are looking at you. Cathcart and Masina are just useless so get a pass due to Pozzo incompetence.

Our team consisted of players that had barely played all season at that stage and Palace had their first team playing and still lost 1-0.

No idea what arsenal fans and hierarchy see as par performance these days. With the team they now have, they have no right to expect anything other than mid table.

It is very contradictory considering the deals City have in place, but at the same time I’m not sure why Newcastle are complaining because their owners aren’t connected to the Saudi state…. Are they?

You can see the concern though, they could immediately tie up a sponsorship deal with someone like Aramco who are the most profitable company in the world and then FFP goes out the window.

Vieira's lack of experience was also the main reason why I wondered if they'd struggle, but they made good (and costly) signings in the summer with Guehi, Edouard and Olise and have a decent squad. Gallagher has also surprised me a bit so far this season.

Looks pretty definite that he is out for a while, if not the whole season. Calvert-Lewin is out until Xmas they reckon too. Hoping Richarlison doesn't make it back for Sat as well.

    Everton 4 (Davies 2, Rondon 2) Hornets 0

At least it's progress, conceding one less per game.

Metatarsal for Doucs. Shame as he was playing very well, but potentially good news for us if we remember how to play football.

Contrast that to the NFL which is 95%, which is surprising, when from the outside you generally assume the US has a lot more antivax nutters than we do.

Mmm, and they do, but it's because the NFL have put very strict rules in place essentially enforcing it, which has created an amusing dichotomy between NFL being the sport of the 'freedom' obsessed right-wing/libertarian ****wits, and its strong no-nonsense stance on bullshyt that flies directly in the face of the lack of brain cells inherent in a great deal of its supporter base.

Also, really we have to take a lot of the blame for the modern, virulent strain of the anti-vax movement thanks to our exporting of Andrew Wakefield. I watched a documentary on this a few weeks ago, actually (on channel 4, I think) - fascinating and horrifying/depressing/etc in equal measure.

Oh absolutely, but he's much, much worse than that, too - he originally came up with his fake anti-vax study to try and discredit the existing MMR jabs, because he had taken out patents on individual versions of each jab that he was planning to supply once he had sunk the joint shot - it was a purely venal move, and look at what it has cost us all.

Obviously that doesn't even take into account everything he has done subsequently, which is even worse and more knowing than his original despicable, repulsive, psychopathic sin.

The absolute idiocy of people who follow him. He's undermined 2 centuries of vaccine progress due to his own greed and arrogance. Utter scum.

Looks like Everton will be without Calvert-Lewin, Demari Gray and Doucoure on Saturday, 3 important players for them, Richarlison is a doubt too.

Clutching a bit maybe, but we need all the help we can get at the minute.
