Twitter watch: Local celebrity Wendover Horn has stumbled into an argument with his usual magnificent lack of facts. Just a week after claiming Duxbury's salary was "par for the course" for a championship CEO, he came out with this belter, defending, of all things, the Janmaat contract extension and subsequent payoff back in the day: Unfortunately our hero was quickly hit by a wall of facts such as Janmaat being long term injured at the time of the extension, and his previous woeful injury record. And the other one that tickled me on Ngakia in response to someone who had politely questioned the merits of a new deal - we have the unthinking disciple incapable of independent thought: Pozzo loves these people
I thought he was quite injury prone tbh ? Most of our recent right backs have been . Don’t make them like Lloyd now !
They both had their serious faults, and yet still, looking back now and thinking of the time a few short years ago that we had Janmaat and Femenia competing for the right back position seems so surreal as to have only possible been the result of a government deepfake operation.
I'm hearing Val bullied him. Peanutted his tie and stole his lunch money. Ngakia's mum is furious about it on the socials.
We've made some strange decisions over the years, Bachmann, Janmaat etc but this without question is the strangest. A player who is constantly injured and even when fit is probably at the wrong level! It's beyond belief!!!
I literally laughed out loud at this news. It blows my mind how the club cant see that he is an absolute crock. They’ve only had over 3 years of constant injuries to see it with their own eyes. Better offer him a 4 year contract before he gets stolen away from us
Exactly Reported by Adam L, but nowhere else or by anyone else. Not confirmed by the club and transfer market, who are normally pretty good on these things, still have him out of contract at the end of June.
They'll probably let him sign for four years and then release him towards the end of August so he can find a new club. #Pozzologic
So both our RB's are crocked. What a shocker. Andrews still made the bench yesterday even though he was carrying an injury. Summer window is going to be very interesting/disappointing/exciting <delete as appropriate>
In the interests of total fairness and proportion, we should probably make sure to chalk this one up in the 'Leventhal was right' column, given the pelters he often receives for his seemingly-at-times-somewhat-speculative reporting on club matters these days. It makes it harder to wishfully dismiss inexplicably idiotic Gino decisions out of hand, for one.
I imagine we will have a £5m budget for 50k of players and £4.95m of agent fees. Nothing to see here.
Hopefully the club not bothering to announce it is a sign that he's still not guaranteed to be here in the team long-term and he's being kept in case we can't sign anyone else in the summer but the intention is will be to loan him with a view to raking in those tasty loan fees before selling for a minimal fee.
Personally I prefer him unfit and therefore unavailable for selection. Stick to three at the back, with Andrews as wingback.
Haha. Mr French politely asked a couple of polite questions about Ngakia in light of FA confirmation of new contract and was met with “no comment” each time. A truly pathetic unlikeable weird football club.
Is the implication our favourite agent got a bumper shovel of money as part of Ngakia's new contract? Or not.
No. Detailed in same French article, but the disgraceful Ngakia extension is a separate matter to the disgraceful amount of money we have funnelled to agents despite our minimal transfer incomings.
Classic Ngakia - did wonder how fit he was when coming on with loads of strapping on like you see some rugby players have!
